Kampala is the capital and largest city of Uganda. The city proper has a population of 1,875,834 (2024) and is divided into the five political divisions of Kampala, Kawempe, Makindye, Nakawa, and Rubaga.

The Forum for Democratic Change, founded on 16 December 2004, is the main opposition party in Uganda. The FDC was founded as an umbrella body called Reform Agenda, mostly for disenchanted former members and followers of President Yoweri Museveni's National Resistance Movement (NRM). Party president Kizza Besigye, formerly a close ally of Museveni, was a candidate in 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016 presidential elections. In November 2012, Mugisha Muntu was elected as President of the FDC until November 2017 when he was defeated by Patrick Oboi Amuriat the current party President until 2022.

He was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016, replacing Vincent Ssempijja, who became Cabinet Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries. As of 2017, Kibanzanga is the serving Member of Parliament representing Bughendera County in Bundibugyo District.

She previously served as the parliamentary representative of the National Female Youth Constituency in the 10th parliament (2016–2021). She serves as the Deputy President for Forum for Democratic Change in Eastern Region.
Lucy Akello is a Ugandan social worker and politician, who served as the member of parliament for the Amuru District Women's Constituency in the 10th Parliament. She was elected back to the eleventh Parliament representing Amuru District under FDC political party. She is a member of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), and she serves as the shadow minister for labour, gender and social development.
Anita Annet Among is a Ugandan accountant, lawyer and politician who is the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda since 2022. She also concurrently serves as the elected member of parliament for the Bukedea District Women Constituency, the same position she held in the 10th Parliament (2016–2021). She was in FDC party before she joined the ruling NRM where she was voted as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Parliament. She is named in the torture complaint against the Ugandan government that was submitted with the International Criminal Court.
Faith Alupo was a Ugandan politician who served as a Member of Parliament, representing the Pallisa District. She was elected to that position in June 2018.
Grace Mary Mugasa is a Ugandan politician who currently serves as the State Minister for Public Service. She was appointed on 8 June 2021, by the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, assuming office on 21 June 2021. Grace Mary took office from David Karubanga, the former State Minister and Member of Parliament representing Kigorobya. Prior to her appointment, she was the first female Mayor of Hoima Municipality and saw it through its transition to City status in July 2020.

Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba is a Ugandan politician, lawyer, and teacher who served as the Leader of the Opposition from 2021 to 2024. He previously served as a Member of Parliament of Nyendo-Mukungwe municipality in Masaka district from 2011 until 2021 and briefly as the Leader of the Opposition.
