Juan Carlos Bazalar Cruzado (born 23 February 1968) is a Peruvian football manager and former player who played as a defensive midfielder.
Bazalar developed as part of the youth system of Universitario de Deportes, and played his first professional game by Universitario to continue his development as a player.
Despite his age he was still periodically called up for Peru. He represented Peru in the 2007 Copa America. Bazalar has made 26 appearances for the Peru national football team. [1]
He is also the father of footballer Alonso Bazalar. He had expressed a wish to play alongside his son who was part of the U-17 team that went to the U-17 World Cup in 2007. [2]

Club Universitario de Deportes, is currently the most successful Peruvian team with 27 domestic titles and is popularly known as Universitario or simply as La "U", is a Peruvian sports club based in Lima, which has football as its main activity. The club was founded in August 1924 under the name Federación Universitaria by students of the National University of San Marcos but was forced to rename in 1931. Club Cienciano, more commonly known as Cienciano, is a Peruvian professional football club based in Cusco, that currently plays in the Peruvian Primera División. It gained worldwide recognition after defeating River Plate in the finals of the 2003 Copa Sudamericana and Boca Juniors in the 2004 Recopa Sudamericana. The Torneo Descentralizado is the national Peruvian professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the Peruvian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. The responsibility for its organization lies within the Asociación Deportiva de Fútbol Profesional. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Segunda División and the Copa Peru.
