The Judo event at the 2022 Maccabiah Games will be the 20th edition of the judo competition in the Maccabiah Games, and will take place from 17 to 18 July 2022 at the Anerbox Arena in Hadera, Israel. [1] [2] [3] [4] At the individual competitons, Israel has won 57 medals, 20 of whom gold. [5]

2005 Maccabiah Games

The 2005 Maccabiah Games, held in Israel, were the 17th incarnation of the 'Jewish Olympics.' They attracted the largest attendance of any Maccabiah Games, including more than 900 representatives from the United States, almost 500 from Australia, and more than 2,000 from Israel, bringing the total participants to more than 7,700 from 55 countries.

2009 Maccabiah Games

The 2009 Maccabiah Games, the 18th incarnation of the Maccabiah Games, were held in July 2009. According to the organizing committee these were the largest games held yet. These Games were the world's fifth-largest sporting event, behind the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Police and Fire Games, and Universiade. On the 13 July, more than 6,000 Jewish athletes from all over the world joined Team Israel's 3,000 participants at the Ramat Gan Stadium in Tel Aviv District, Israel, for the opening ceremony. American swimmer Jason Lezak was given the honor of lighting the Maccabiah torch at the Opening Ceremony.

Alice Schlesinger Israeli-British judoka

Alice Schlesinger is an Israeli-British retired judoka and sambo competitor. Born in Israel, she competed for that country until 2014, but following a dispute with the national federation she has started competing for Great Britain, of whom she is a citizen through her English-born mother.

Baruch Shmailov is an Israeli judoka. He competes in the under 66 kg weight category, and won a silver medal in the 2018 World Masters in Guangzhou. Shmailov won a bronze in the 2017 World Masters, and in 2018 Düsseldorf Grand Slam. In March 2018 he was ranked #5 in the world in the U66 kg division. He competed for Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Timna Nelson-Levy Israeli judoka

Timna Nelson-Levy is an Israeli judoka. She competes in the under 57 kg weight category, and won a bronze medal in the 2016 European Judo Championships. She competed for Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Réka Pupp is a Hungarian judoka. She is a bronze medalist at the European Judo Championships and she competed at multiple editions of the World Judo Championships. She also represented Hungary at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan and the European Games in 2015 and 2019.

The Judo at the 2009 Maccabiah Games were the 17th edition of the judo competition in the Maccabiah Games, and took place on 19-20 July 2009 in Tel Aviv, Israel. A prominent competitor at the seniors event was Savyon head of municipality and Survivor: The Caribbean Islands competitor Moshe Lipetz.

The Judo at the 2017 Maccabiah Games were the 19th edition of the judo competition in the Maccabiah Games, and took place on 9 July 2017 in Haifa, Israel. On April, the event was face with a cancellation scare due to a dispute over mats for the competition. The event saw Avisar Sheinmann winning gold, seven years after his official retirement. Amongst the gold winner at the women's events were Gili Cohen, Inbal Shemesh and Raz Hershko.

The 2022 Maccabiah Games took place in Israel from July 14-25, 2022, and are also referred to as the 21st Maccabiah Games. The Maccabiah Games are open to Jewish athletes from around the world, and to all Israeli citizens regardless of their religion. Israeli former Olympic judo medalist Arik Zeevi served as Maccabiah Chairman. Athletes from 80 countries competed in 42 sports categories. With 10,000 athletes participating, this was the largest Maccabiah Games ever.
