The Judo at the 2009 Maccabiah Games were the 17th edition of the judo competition in the Maccabiah Games, and took place on 19-20 July 2009 in Tel Aviv, Israel. [1] A prominent competitor at the seniors event was Savyon head of municipality and Survivor: The Caribbean Islands competitor Moshe Lipetz. [2]

Ariel "Arik" Ze'evi is a retired Israeli dan 6 black belt in Judo. He had a long and successful career competing in half-heavyweight Judo competitions. He is an Olympic bronze medal finalist in the 2004 Summer Olympics Judo 100 kg class in Athens.
The Maccabiah Games, first held in 1932, are an international Jewish and Israeli multi-sport event now held quadrennially in Israel. The Maccabiah Games are open to Jewish athletes from around the world, and to all Israeli citizens regardless of their religion. It is the third-largest sporting event in the world by number of competitors, with 10,000 athletes competing. The Maccabiah Games were declared a "Regional Sports Event" by, and under the auspices and supervision of, the International Olympic Committee in 1961.

The 2009 Maccabiah Games, the 18th incarnation of the Maccabiah Games, were held in July 2009. According to the organizing committee these were the largest games held yet. These Games were the world's fifth-largest sporting event, behind the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Police and Fire Games, and Universiade. On the 13 July, more than 6,000 Jewish athletes from all over the world joined Team Israel's 3,000 participants at the Ramat Gan Stadium in Tel Aviv District, Israel, for the opening ceremony. American swimmer Jason Lezak was given the honor of lighting the Maccabiah torch at the Opening Ceremony.

Aaron Cohen is a former US judoka. He was a 5 time US national champion, and earned a silver medal in the 2008 US Olympic trials. He is the son of Irwin Cohen, a former Olympian. Aaron's uncle Steve is a former Olympic competitor and coach and his brother Richard also competed at the national level.
Bernard Lepkofker was a competitive judoka from Brooklyn, New York, in the United States. He was a two-time gold medalist at the Maccabiah Games in Israel, won a New York Judo gold medal, and twice won silver medals in the US national championships.
Or "Ori" Sasson is a retired Israeli Olympic judoka. He won a bronze medal in the +100 kg category at the 2016 Summer Olympics and another one at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He is the second of two Israelis to win two Olympic medals.

The 2017 Maccabiah Games, also referred to as the 20th Maccabiah Games, were the 20th edition of the Maccabiah Games. They took place from 4 to 17 July 2017, in Israel. The Maccabiah Games are open to Jewish athletes from around the world, and to all Israeli citizens regardless of their religion. A total of 10,000 athletes competed, a Maccabiah Games record, making the 2017 Maccabiah Games the third-largest sporting competition in the world. The athletes were from 85 countries, also a record. Countries represented for the first time included the Bahamas, Barbados, Cambodia, the Cayman Islands, Haiti, Malta, Morocco, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Trinidad. The athletes competed in 45 sports.

The Judo at the 2017 Maccabiah Games were the 19th edition of the judo competition in the Maccabiah Games, and took place on 9 July 2017 in Haifa, Israel. On April, the event was face with a cancellation scare due to a dispute over mats for the competition. The event saw Avisar Sheinmann winning gold, seven years after his official retirement. Amongst the gold winner at the women's events were Gili Cohen, Inbal Shemesh and Raz Hershko.
The Judo event at the 2022 Maccabiah Games will be the 20th edition of the judo competition in the Maccabiah Games, and will take place from 17 to 18 July 2022 at the Anerbox Arena in Hadera, Israel. At the individual competitons, ISrael has won 57 medals, 20 of whom gold.
