Jugni (2011) is a Pakistani Punjabi-language film, directed by Syed Noor. First named Jugni Nachdi Aye, the film's name was later changed to Jugni, The film brought folk singer Arif Lohar back on the silver screen after eleven years. It also stars Saima, Shaan Shahid and Moammar Rana. [1]

Story

The movie revolves around three men who fall in love with the same woman, Jugni (Saima). Rana and Shaan's characters are friends who are competing for Jugni's love. [2]

Music

The music was composed by M Arshad and has been a huge hit in Pakistan, specially in the Punjabi circuit. The title song, "Jugni," which has been released online, was recorded at the studio of Noor's Paragon Academy of Performing Arts (Papa). There are four other item songs sung by Arif Lohar including his Coke Studio hit "Alif Allah (Jugni)". Singers include Arif Lohar, Nooran Lal and Meesha Shafi. [2]

Ishq Khuda is a 2013 Pakistani Punjabi-language romantic film directed by Shahzad Rafique and produced by Shafquat Chaudhry. It stars Shaan Shahid, Meera, Saima, Ahsan Khan, Humaima Malick, Wiam Dahmani and Shafqat Cheema. The film was released on 9 August 2013 and was declared a commercial success.

Alif Allah (Jugni) (Punjabi: الف اللہ - جگنی), also known as Alif Allah Chambe Di Booti (Punjabi: الف اللہ چمبے دی بوٹی) is a popular Punjabi Sufi song that was composed and sung by Arif Lohar and Meesha Shafi in Coke Studio Pakistan. The lyrics of the song were based on the works of 17th century Sufi poet Sultan Bahu. It is an adaptation of Punjabi folk "Jugni" in a Sufi version.

Saima Noor is a Pakistani actress who has appeared in Punjabi and Urdu films and Pakistani dramas. After making her film debut with Khatarnaak 1990, she appeared in a wide range of successful Punjabi films, mostly in which she was starred opposite action hero Sultan Rahi. She rose to prominence when director Syed Noor introduced her in Urdu feature films, and became one of the leading and highest-paid actresses of Pakistani cinema after starring in the mainstream Punjabi-language film Choorian, which ranks among the highest grossing Pakistani films of all time. Choorian also holds the record to be one of the longest running Pakistani films showcased at a single screen cinema where it ran for five years. In the same year, Saima agreed to work in female centric action film Daku Rani which opened to mixed reviews. In 2000, she acted in the successful horror film Billi, also directed by Noor. Saima was praised for playing double roles of a fearless girl and her mother in adventure film Jungle Queen. After many successful films, her career was disturbed after the decline of Lollywood in early 2000s. However, she shot to fame again due to her performance in blockbuster film Majajan and reprise the same character in the film's sequel Zill-e-Shah. Her film Majajan ran for five years in cinemas. During the shooting of Majajan, director Syed Noor married her but kept it a secret until Saima publicly revealed in a 2007's press conference that the couple married in 2005. In 2012, she starred in another film with Noor, titled Shareeka which generated negative reviews and turned out to be a disaster.

Bakhshi-Wazir were a Pakistani composer duo who created music for films, television, and radio from the 1960s to the 1990s. The duo partnered two musicians Wazir Hussain and Bakhshi from Lahore. The duo is primarily known for composing a Punjabi song "Jadon Houly Jayi Laina Mera Naa" in 1970 that became an iconic track in Pakistan's Punjabi music history.
