Julia Dault (born 1977) is a Canadian artist. She is best known for her abstract paintings and Formica and Plexiglas sculptures. She lives and works in Toronto.
Dault was born in Toronto to Gary Michael Dault, an art critic, and Margaret Crawford, who is an art teacher. [1] [2] She attended McGill University, Montreal, and received a BA in Art History in 2001. After having worked as an art critic for The National Post and other publications, [3] she attended Parsons, the New School for Design, New York, and received MFA in Fine Arts in 2008. [4]
Sculpture
Dault has been making sculptures that are all called Untitled with a number since she made Untitled No.1 in 2008 for her thesis show for Parsons. [3] Untitled sculptures are made with industrial materials, such as Formica and Plexiglas, and they are built without glue or screws. [3] Sculptures are fabricated strictly on site without any pretreatment of materials. Each of them is also titled with a date and time stamp to reflect the amount of time it took for Dault to construct the sculpture. [3] The stamp also reflects new iteration in case of reinstallation. [5]
Painting
The use of various hand tools and the idea of removal is fundamental in Dault's paintings. [5] She often paints layers of patterns and then scrapes the top monochrome layer to reveal the patterns underneath. [3] Scraping is done with unique tools, such as door handles, combs created from a sheet of rubber, and plaster tools for home decoration. [5]
Dault has had solo exhibitions internationally at Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver, Canada (2015); Marianne Boesky Gallery, New York (2015); China Art Objects Galleries, Los Angeles, CA (2014); Galerie Bob van Orsouw Zurich, Switzerland (2013); White Cube Bermondsey, London, UK (2012).
Her work has also been included in group shows including Pérez Art Museum Miami, Miami (2013); Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Houston, TX (2013); Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw, Poland (2013); New Museum, New York, NY (2012); The Museum of Public Fiction, Los Angeles, CA (2010); Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans, LA.

Frank Philip Stella is an American painter, sculptor and printmaker, noted for his work in the areas of minimalism and post-painterly abstraction. Stella lives and works in New York City.
Donald Clarence Judd was an American artist associated with minimalism. In his work, Judd sought autonomy and clarity for the constructed object and the space created by it, ultimately achieving a rigorously democratic presentation without compositional hierarchy. He is generally considered the leading international exponent of "minimalism," and its most important theoretician through such writings as "Specific Objects" (1964). Judd voiced his unorthodox perception of minimalism in Arts Yearbook 8, where he says, "The new three dimensional work doesn't constitute a movement, school, or style. The common aspects are too general and too little common to define a movement. The differences are greater than the similarities."
Jessica Jackson Hutchins is an American artist from Chicago, Illinois who is based in Portland, Oregon. Her practice consists of large scale ceramics, multi-media installations, assemblage, and paintings all of which utilize found objects such as old furniture, ceramics, worn out clothes, and newspaper clippings. She is most recognizable for her sloppy craft assemblages of furniture and ceramics. Her work was selected for the 2010: Whitney Biennial, featured in major art collections, and has been exhibited throughout the United States and internationally, in Iceland, the UK, and Germany.
Roxy Paine is an American painter and sculptor widely known for his installations that often convey elements of conflict between the natural world and the artificial plains man creates. He was educated at both the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico and the Pratt Institute in New York.
Ursula von Rydingsvard is a sculptor who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She is best known for creating large-scale works influenced by nature, primarily using cedar and other forms of timber.

Viktor Mitic is a Serbian-born Canadian painter and sculptor living in Toronto, Ontario. He is best known for incorporating firearms in his art, a skill he acquired during national service in his native Yugoslavia. Because art and violence coexist in an inexplicable way, Mitic says his art highlights the absurdity and senselessness of gun violence, but at the same time he transforms these acts into art. One of his most notable works, the Blasted Beaverbrook, was commissioned for exhibition in 2009 by New Brunswick's provincial gallery, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.
Nathalie Quagliotto is an artist born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1984. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University in 2007, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Waterloo in 2009. She has exhibited sculpture in Canada particularly in Quebec and Ontario, the United States in New York City, and Australia in Melbourne. Quagliotto lives and works in Montreal, Canada and Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

Carol Lorraine Sutton is a multidisciplinary artist born in Norfolk, Virginia, USA and now living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She is a painter whose works on canvas and paper have been shown in 32 solo exhibits as well as being included in 94 group shows. Her work, which ranges from complete abstraction to the use of organic and architectural images, relates to the formalist ideas of Clement Greenberg and is noted for the use of color. Some of Sutton paintings have been related to ontology.

Hayes is known for her terrariums and other living artworks, as well as her large-scale public and private landscapes. A major theme in Hayes' work is the connection of people to the natural environment. Hayes encourages a direct and tactile experience with her work as well as engagement with an evolving relationship to growing and maintaining large- and small-scale ecosystems.

Margaret Priest DFA is a Toronto based artist, educator and arts advocate. Priest's artistic practice of 50 years includes painting, print-making, sculpture and public art projects, and she is known and recognized for drawing the interiors and exteriors of the modern, urban built environment. Her work has been exhibited across Canada and internationally in solo and group exhibitions since 1970. Priest is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Guelph, where she taught in the School of Fine Art and Music from 1983 to 2001, and has guest lectured extensively in Canada, England and the United States.
John MacGregor (1942-2019) was an artist, known for his paintings, prints and sculptures, and as a member of the Isaacs Gallery Group in Toronto.
