The International Wushu Federation (IWUF) is an international sport organization and is the governing body for wushu in all its forms worldwide. The IWUF is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and is also a member of the ARISF, GAISF, FISU, IWGA, and the ISF.
Wushu, or Kung fu, is a hard and soft and complete martial art, as well as a full-contact combat sport. It has a long history in reference to Chinese martial arts. It was developed in 1949 in an effort to standardize the practice of traditional Chinese martial arts, yet attempts to structure the various decentralized martial arts traditions date back earlier, when the Central Guoshu Institute was established at Nanking in 1928.
The 2008 Beijing Wushu Tournament was a wushu competition which was held from August 21 to 24, 2008 at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Beijing, China. The tournament was organised by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG), the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), and the Chinese Wushu Association (CWA), and was held in tandem with the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Col. Antonio "Jeff" De Lara Tamayo was the chef-de-mission of the Philippine delegate to 27th SEA Games in Myanmar in 2013. He is the second vice president of the Philippine Olympic Committee and board of director of Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI). Tamayo currently served as the overall security officer of the 28-man Philippine contingent in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Philippine National Games officially known as the POC-PSC Games is a national multi-sport tournament in the Philippines. It was created as a means to determine the possible composition of national pool athletes that will compete in international tournaments such as the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games and the Olympics.

The Philippines finished the 29th SEA Games in 6th place with a medal haul of 23 Golds, 33 Silvers and 64 Bronze which is the country's worst finish in 18 years. The next edition of the Southeast Asian Games was hosted by the Philippines in 2019.
The Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines, abbreviated as FESSAP is a university sports federation based in the Philippines established in 1999. It is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education since 1999 and member of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) since 2009. The university sports body is the sole recognized body for university sports in the Philippines by FISU. FESSAP is also a member of the Asian University Sports Federation since 2000.
Jose A. "Joey" Romasanta was the 11th president of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), the country's highest olympic body. He is also the president of Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI), the official NSA for Volleyball in the Philippines that is currently recognized by the POC, Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the Philippine Karatedo Federation (PKF-NSA), the official NSA for karatedo.
Mariano "Nonong" V. Araneta, Jr. is a Filipino sports executive, businessman and retired footballer. Araneta formerly played for the Philippines national football team. He is the current president of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) and a member of the FIFA Council since May 2017.
Ireland competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from 9 to 25 February 2018. Five athletes represented the country in four sports. OCI Chief Executive Stephen Martin was chef de mission.
The Philippines participated at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. The country won 21 medals to finish 19th overall in the medal tally of the games; an improvement from 22nd place placement of the country in the previous 2014 edition. However this came short of the 15th place target set by officials who deemed the actual placement as acceptable. Two of the Philippines' gold medal came from golf, while the other two came from weightlifting and skateboarding.
In November 2016, the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) held an election which saw Jose "Peping" Cojuangco win a fourth term as president after Victorico "Ricky" Vargas was disqualified for not being an "active member" of the committee. Tolentino, a candidate for the chairman position was also disqualified on the same grounds.
The Philippines competed at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics in Lausanne, Switzerland, returning to the Games after missing the previous edition.
The 2014 Nanjing Youth Wushu Tournament was a wushu competition which was held from August 22 to 24, 2014 at the Gaochun Gymnasium in Nanjing, China. The name "Nanjing Youth Wushu Tournament" was used to specify that wushu was only an invitational sport at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics and not an official event.
Malaysia will participate at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from 10 to 25 September 2022. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic cases rising in China, the event has been postponed and rescheduled to 23 September to 8 October 2023.
