Juliana Danielle "Julie" Kilian is a South African politician. She served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa for two political parties from 2009 until 2019. She represented the Congress of the People from 2009 to 2014 and the African National Congress between 2014 and 2019. Kilian was a senior member of the New National Party.
Kilian was born in South Africa. She married Johan Kilian. [1]
In 1974,Kilian became a Liaison Officer for the Department of Information. She and her husband were both senior members of the New National Party. He was the provincial leader of the party in Gauteng while she represented the NNP in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature and served as the chairperson of the legislature's education committee.
In 2008,Kilian and her husband joined the Congress of the People. She was elected to the National Assembly as one of the party's first representatives. [2] She was a member of the portfolio committee on communications. [3]
Prior to the 2014 South African general election,Kilian resigned from COPE and joined the African National Congress. She was one of many parliamentarians who left COPE due to infighting. Her named placed on the ANC's election list and she returned to Parliament following the election. [4] Her husband died in 2015. [1]
In 2018,Kilian criticised AfriForum. She said that the lobby group does not "speak on behalf of myself and other progressive Afrikaans speakers". [5]
Kilian left Parliament before the 2019 general election,as she was not listed as a candidate.
The Western Cape is a province of South Africa,situated on the south-western coast of the country. The Democratic Alliance is a South African political party and the official opposition to the ruling African National Congress (ANC). The party is broadly centrist,and has been attributed both centre-left and centre-right policies. It is a member of Liberal International and the Africa Liberal Network. The DA traces its roots to the founding of the anti-apartheid Progressive Party in 1959,with many mergers and name changes between that time and the present. The DA ideologically shows a variety of liberal tendencies,including social liberalism,classical liberalism,and conservative liberalism.
The National Assembly is the directly elected house of the Parliament of South Africa,located in Cape Town,Western Cape Province. It consists of four hundred members who are elected every five years using a party-list proportional representation system where half of the members are elected proportionally from 9 provincial lists and the remaining half from national lists so as to restore proportionality.
General elections were held in South Africa on 22 April 2009 to elect members of the National Assembly and provincial legislatures. These were the fourth general elections held since the end of the apartheid era.
The Congress of the People (COPE) is a South African political party formed in 2008 by former members of the African National Congress (ANC). The party was founded by former ANC members Mosiuoa Lekota,Mbhazima Shilowa and Mluleki George to contest the 2009 general election. The party was announced following a national convention held in Sandton on 1 November 2008,and was founded at a congress held in Bloemfontein on 16 December 2008. The name echoes the 1955 Congress of the People at which the Freedom Charter was adopted by the ANC and other parties,a name strongly contested by the ANC in a legal move dismissed by the Pretoria High Court.
Although the Democratic Alliance of South Africa in its present form is fairly new,its roots can be traced far back in South African political history,through a complex sequence of splits and mergers.
The Gauteng Provincial Legislature is the legislature of the South African province of Gauteng. It is a unicameral body of 73 members elected every five years. The current legislature,the sixth,was elected on 8 May 2019 and has an African National Congress majority of 37 members. The legislature is housed in Johannesburg City Hall in central Johannesburg.

Willem Abraham Stephanus Aucamp,known as Willie Aucamp,is a South African politician from the Northern Cape. He has been a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces since 2019. He is one of six permanent delegates from the province. Aucamp is a member of the Democratic Alliance (DA). Aucamp is also the son of former MP Cassie Aucamp.
Winnie Ngwenya is a South African politician,African National Congress (ANC) member and a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces since 2019. She is a member of the Gauteng provincial delegation in the legislature. Ngwenya served as a Member of the National Assembly from 2005 until 2014. Ngwenya has been mentioned at the ongoing State Capture inquiry.
Bertha Peace Mabe is a South African politician serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since February 2017. She previously served in the National Assembly from May 2014 until August 2016. She served as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces from Gauteng between May 2009 and April 2014. Mabe is a member of the African National Congress and the party's unsuccessful 2016 Mogale City mayoral candidate.
Audrey Winifred Morakane Ketlhoilwe Mosupyoe,known as Morakane Mosupyoe,is a South African politician serving as the Gauteng MEC for Social Development since December 2020. She was the MEC for Economic Development,Agriculture and Environment from October 2019 to December 2020. Prior to her election to the Gauteng Provincial Legislature in 2019,she served as a Tshwane city councillor. Mosupyoe is a member of the African National Congress.

Gauteng is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa,the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa,the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established as Pretoria–Witwatersrand–Vereeniging in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It was renamed Gauteng in 1999. It is conterminous with the province of Gauteng. The constituency currently elects 48 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 general election it had 6,381,220 registered electors.

Prior to her election to parliament,Ndaba served as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2014.

Gerhardus Willem Koornhof is a South African politician and economist who serves as the Parliamentary Counsellor to President Cyril Ramaphosa. When Ramaphosa served as deputy president,Koornhof was his parliament counsellor. An MP since 1994,Koornhof currently represents the African National Congress,though he previously represented United Democratic Movement between 1999 and 2003 and the National Party/New National Party before that.
