Junia-T is the stage name of Jonathan Lindo, a Canadian rapper from Toronto, Ontario. [1] He is most noted for his album Studio Monk, which was longlisted for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize. [2]

He was previously associated with the duo Smash Brovaz, [3] who released the album Think It’s A Game? in 2012. [4] Junia-T then released his solo debut Eye See You in 2014. [5] Discouraged by the album's lack of success, he considered quitting the music business for a time, but found his creative perspective refreshed after joining Addy Papa's Riot Club sessions. [1] He signed with Pirates Blend, [6] Studio Monk, his second album, was released on that label in January 2020. [7]

He also works as touring DJ with Jessie Reyez, [6] who contributed vocals on both of Junia-T's solo albums.

Matthew Raymond Burnett is a Canadian record producer, musical director and manager from Toronto, Ontario, Canada who has worked with a number of major recording artists in various genres from R&B to soul, hip hop and rap. Burnett has produced for the likes of Daniel Caesar, Drake, Eminem, Nas, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Childish Gambino, Ellie Goulding and Snoh Aalegra to name a few. He has also musically directed Daniel Caesar, Charlotte Day Wilson, Jessie Reyez, Willow Smith and Queen Naija and currently manages both Caesar and Wilson alongside longtime music partner, Jordan Evans. Matthew Burnett's work has earned him two Grammy Award nominations and five Juno Award nominations. In 2018 he took home a Juno Award for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year for Caesar's debut studio album, Freudian.

METZ is a Canadian punk rock band formed in 2008 in Ottawa and currently based in Toronto. The band consists of guitarist and vocalist Alex Edkins, bassist Chris Slorach and drummer Hayden Menzies.

Jessica Reyez is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Her 2016 single "Figures" peaked at number 58 on the Canadian Hot 100 in 2017 and was certified triple Platinum by Music Canada and Platinum by the RIAA. Her 2017 EP, Kiddo, led to four nominations at the 2018 Juno Awards, winning Breakthrough Artist. Her follow up EP, Being Human in Public, was released in 2018. It won R&B/Soul Recording of The Year at the 2019 Juno Awards and was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2020 Grammy Awards. Reyez has co-written songs for Calvin Harris and Normani, most notably penning the hit "One Kiss", and has collaborated with Eminem on multiple occasions. Kiddo is the debut extended play by Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez. It was released on April 21, 2017, by FMLY and Republic Records. The EP was supported by two singles, "Figures" and "Shutter Island". The third single, "Gatekeeper", was released alongside a short film. Riit (ᕇᑦ) is the stage name of Rita Claire Mike-Murphy, a Canadian Inuk musician and television personality from Pangnirtung, Nunavut who is most noted as the host of APTN's children's series Anaana's Tent.

The 2019 edition of the Canadian Polaris Music Prize was presented on September 16, 2019. Haviah Mighty won the $50,000 dollar prize for her debut album 13th Floor, becoming the first Black woman and first hip hop artist to win the prize.

Before Love Came to Kill Us is the debut studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez. It was released on March 27, 2020, by FMLY and Island Records. The record was prefaced with the singles "Figures", "Imported" with 6lack, and "Love in the Dark", and the promotional single "Ankles". A deluxe edition with three additional songs was made available digitally on April 9, 2020. A super deluxe edition of the album was released on September 25, 2020.

"Coffin" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez, released from her debut full-length studio album Before Love Came to Kill Us on March 27, 2020 via FMLY/Island Records. Produced by Bizness Boi and Tobias Frelin, it features a rap verse from Eminem. Despite never being released as a single, the song has managed to chart in Canada.

<i>44</i> (album) 2020 studio album by Joel Plaskett

44 is the sixth solo album by Canadian indie rock musician Joel Plaskett, released on April 17, 2020. Dubbed the "spiritual successor" to Plaskett's prior triple album Three, the 44-song, quadruple album was released the day before the artist's 45th birthday. Plaskett recorded the album across Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Memphis, Nashville and Toronto, having worked with 33 other musicians over four years.

The 2020 edition of the Canadian Polaris Music Prize was presented on October 19, 2020. The longlist was announced on June 15, 2020, with the shortlist following on July 15, 2020 and the winner announced on October 19, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the traditional winner's gala did not take place this year, and instead a special cinematic tribute to the shortlist was streamed online by CBC Music and CBC Gem, following which the winner was announced.

Begonia is the stage name of Alexa Dirks, a Canadian pop singer-songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is most noted for her 2019 album Fear, which was a longlisted nominee for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize.

WHOOP-Szo is a Canadian alternative rock band from Guelph, Ontario led by Anishinaabe-Canadian singer-songwriter, Adam Sturgeon. The band's latest record Warrior Down was released in 2019 and it made the 2020 Polaris Music Prize longlist.

Ice Cream is a Canadian synthpop band from Toronto, Ontario, consisting of Amanda Crist and Carlyn Bezic. They are most noted for their 2019 album Fed Up, which was longlisted for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize.
