The Junior Badminton League (JBL) is India's First Junior Badminton League that is annually held in Tamil Nadu, India under the auspices of Tamil Nadu Badminton Association (TNBA) affiliated to Badminton Association of India (BAI). [1] The league has Ten franchises across the state. [2] The League is usually held in summer between May and August every year. [3] Its 2023 league was the streamed live event on Eurosport & Jio Cinemas . The current champions are Madurai Indians, [4] who won the season 2023 after defeating Trichy Tamil Veeras in the final at the JMC Indoor Stadium in Trichy. [5] [6]

Foundation

The first season of Junior Badminton League started in July 2022 at Chennai. In 2022, There were totally 464 International and National ranked Tamil Nadu players available for the auction out of which 88 players were selected by franchises and Auction happened in Le Méridien, Coimbatore. [7]

In 2023, There were totally 516 International and National ranked Tamil Nadu players available for the auction out of which 88 players were selected by franchises and Auction happened in Crowne Plaza, Dubai. [8]

The current champions are Madurai Indians, who defeated Trichy Tamil Veeras by three ties in the 2023 JBL final to secure their second title. [10]

Tamil Nadu Badminton Association (TNBA) is the central governing body of badminton in Tamil Nadu formed as back as late 1960’s. TNBA current president is Anbumani Ramadoss and the Secretary is V.E.Arunachalam. TNBA is duly recognized by Badminton Association of India. It is headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The 2024 Tamil Nadu Premier League (also known as TNPL-8 and branded as Shriram Capital TNPL was the eighth season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. It took place from 5 July 2024 to 4 August 2024. Kovai Kings were the defending champions, having won the previous season. In the final, the Dindigul Dragons defeated the Lyca Kovai Kings by six wickets to win their first TNPL title.
