K-Def (full name Kevin Hansford) (born June 17, 1970) is an American, New Jersey based, hip hop producer/DJ who has been actively involved in the music industry since the early 1990s. He has recently produced music for artists such as Ghostface Killah and Puff Daddy. K-Def earned critical praise early in his career for his work with Marley Marl on the album Here Come the Lords by the hip hop group Lords of the Underground. [1] Among the songs from that album that benefited from K-Def's production work include the hits "Funky Child" and "Chief Rocka".

Biography

K-Def was also member of the duo Real Live, which released one album The Turnaround: A Long Awaited Drama on Big Beat/Atlantic Records in 1996. "Real Live Shit (Remix)" featured Cappadonna, Ghostface Killah, Killa Sin and Lord Tariq. In April 2018, Rhino Entertainment issued a digital download of the album.

K-Def is mostly known for his blues-soul sampling style. While the majority of his early-mid 1990s productions were produced using the Akai MPC sampler/sequencer, around 1997 he started incorporating computers into his work flow and now exclusively uses a software based setup.

In 2004 K-Def produced "Its Over" on the Ghostface Killah release The Pretty Toney Album. He then contributed tracks to another Ghostface project, Theodore Unit , and Ol' Dirty Bastard's The Osirus Mixtape. He was a contributor to Diddy's 2006 release Press Play, and, in 2007, he produced a track on UGK’s album Underground Kingz.

In 2006, K-Def released an instrumental album called Willie Boo Boo The Fool. The album was originally only available on CD and vinyl, but it was digitally re-released in 2008.

In 2008, K-Def released a collaborative EP with the rapper Dacapo under the name the Program, which was titled The Article. [2]

Dennis Coles, better known by his stage name Ghostface Killah, is an American rapper, songwriter and actor and lead member of the hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan. After the group achieved breakthrough success in the aftermath of Enter the Wu-Tang , the members went on to pursue solo careers to varying levels of success. Ghostface Killah debuted his solo career with Ironman, which was well received by music critics, in 1996. UGK American hip hop duo

UGK was an American hip hop duo from Port Arthur, Texas, formed in 1987, by Chad "Pimp C" Butler and Bernard "Bun B" Freeman. They released their first major-label album, Too Hard to Swallow, in 1992, followed by several other albums charting on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, including the self-titled Underground Kingz album, which contained their single "International Players Anthem " and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, in August 2007. The duo has also been featured on hit singles by several other artists, such as "Big Pimpin'" by Jay-Z and "Sippin' on Some Syrup" by Three 6 Mafia. Pimp C founded UGK Records in late 2005. On December 4, 2007, Pimp C died in his West Hollywood, California hotel room.

Cormega American rapper

Cory McKay, better known by his stage name Cormega, is an American rapper and songwriter. He first attained notice when he was shouted out by Nas on his song "One Love", from the critically acclaimed 1994 album, Illmatic. The album was released during Cormega's time in prison, but the mention sparked his career and created anticipation for his own rapping.

Mark Howard James professionally known as The 45 King, is an American hip hop record producer and disc jockey (DJ) from The Bronx borough of New York City. James began DJing in New Jersey, in the mid-1980s. His pseudonym, the 45 King, came from his ability to make beats using obscure 45 RPM records.

It is the only album from the artist to be released solely under the title of "Ghostface", but it is otherwise a normal Ghostface Killah release in line with the rest of his catalogue.

Percy Lee Chapman, known by his stage name Tragedy Khadafi, is an American rapper and record producer. Released August 15, 2000 and distributed by Def Jam Recordings, Hip Hop Music Awards 2000 is the second annual album produced by the magazine to focus on its nominees of the now-defunct award show. Trife Diesel or Trife Da God is an affiliate of the Wu-Tang Clan. He is a protégé and close associate of Ghostface Killah and is part of both of his protégé groups T.M.F. and Theodore Unit.
