K Govindaswamy Naidu (12 July 1907 - 28 January 1995), popularly known as KG, was an industrialist and philanthropist from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. [1]
Govindaswamy was born to an agricultural family in Coimbatore. He had very little formal education and worked with his father who was a highway contractor. He started his own business before he was twenty years old, after gaining experience in a grocery shop as an assistant.
In 1932, Govindaswamy started his first ginning factory. His further industrial ventures included cotton ginning and spinning, weaving denim, manufacturing terry towels, casting, manufacture of waterpumps and entertainment with an asset base of Rs.2 billion and sales of Rs. 3 billion, of which more than 25% came from exports. [2] [3] He adopted modern technology to revive sick units and to create employment in rural areas, he located all his factories in villages, away from the urban areas with a larger proportion of women. Govindasamy donated money to religious, educational, medical and social causes. He established multiple schools, a hospital with 550 beds and many temples. [6]
Saravanampatti Adheenam bestowed the title Annadhana Vallal on him. Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha of Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, bestowed the title Dharmaveera on KG for his contributions to religious activities, including the funding and construction of the Sharadambal temple in 1979 at Race Course, Coimbatore. The Department of Posts, part of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, released a special postal cover of Govindaswamy in commemoration of the centenary celebrations on 18 July 2009. [8]

Dakṣiṇāmnāya Śrī Śāradā Pīṭham or Śri Śṛṅgagiri Maṭha is one amongst the four cardinal pīthams following the Daśanāmi Sampradaya - the peetham or matha is said to have been established by acharya Śrī Ādi Śaṅkara to preserve and propagate Sanātana Dharma and Advaita Vedānta, the doctrine of non-dualism. Tiruchengode is a selection grade municipality located in western part of southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is famous for the ancient hilltop Ardhanareeswarar Temple, dedicated to the unique combined male-female form of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. Sacchidananda Bharati I , was a Hindu sant and religious leader of the 17th century. He was the Jagadguru of the Hindu matha Sringeri Sharada Peetham from 1623 to 1663, and is believed to have saved it from attack by spiritual means.

He was awarded a Padma Shri in 2005. Dr GB, as he is fondly known as, was born on 5 April 1942 at Annur village of Coimbatore district and graduated with a Masters of Science from Madras Medical College. He then received his post graduate training in surgery at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago (USA).

Ranganathaswamy temple in Karamadai, a town panchayat in Coimbatore district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. It is located 23 km from Coimbatore in the Coimbatore–Mettuplayam highway. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, the temple is dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Ranganathaswamy and his consort Lakshmi as Ranganayaki in this temple. It is considered one among the 108 Abhimana Kshethram of Vaishnavate tradition.
