K. Sankunni was an Indian film editor who worked predominantly in Malayalam film industry. [2] He has edited around 300 films. [3] [4] He edited mostly Malayalam films and also has some credits in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi films. Sankunni won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Editor in 1988. [1]

He won National award twice in 1990 and 1992 for editing the films Nakhashatangal and Iyyer The Great and Kerala State Award in 1972 for editing. He joined the film industry in 1948 and his first film was Ashaadeepam. He has edited more than 300 movies. His famous works as editor includes Kathapurushan, Vidheyan, Sargam, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Anantharam and Amritham Gamaya all that went noticed at the national level. He also edited many Hindi and Tamil films. He also directed seven films, including Doctor, Sathyabhama, Subaida, Thalirukal, Vilakkapatta Bandhangal and Jalakannyaka. He was a popular Malayalam movie director during 1980s.

Kathanayakan (transl. Protagonist) is a 1997 Indian Malayalam-language family drama film directed by Rajasenan. The film stars Kalamandalam Kesavan, Jayaram, Divya Unni and Oduvil Unnikrishnan. It was reported to have been inspired by the 1994 movie Greedy. It was remade by Telugu as Pandaga.This film was a commercial success.

K. P. Hariharaputhran was an Indian film editor who worked in Malayalam cinema. Born on 3 January 1944, he started his career as an assistant to K. Sankunni for the film, Vilakku Vangiya Veena in 1971 and his first assignment as an independent editor was in 1979 for Kalliyankattu Neeli. He edited over 80 films which included commercially successful films such as Sheshakriya, Sukhamo Devi, Punjabi House, Mayavi, Vadakkumnadhan, Pandippada, Thommanum Makkalum and Chathikkatha Chanthu.
