Oommen Chandy was an Indian lawyer, statesman, and politician who served as the 10th chief minister of Kerala, serving from 2004 to 2006 and 2011 to 2016. He served also as the leader of the opposition in the Kerala Legislative Assembly from 2006 to 2011. Oommen Chandy also served as the minister of Finance from 1991 to 1994, the home minister in 1982, and the labour minister from 1977 to 1978 under the Karunakaran governments of the time.
