K1000 or Karnataka 1000Rally is the longest-running motorsports rally in India. It is the third oldest rally in the world. K1000 [1] is the flagship annual event organised by Karnataka Motor Sports Club (KMSC), [2] one of the founder members of FMSCI, the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India.
Started in 1975, K1000 is run over 1000 miles over a span of two or more days running across multiple states. Originally run as a Time, Speed Distance (TSD) rally, currently K1000 is run as a Special Stage Rally and is part of the Indian National Rally Championship (INRC). [3] [4]
The 47th edition of the K1000 rally to be held at Tumakuru has attracted 59 entries and will be run over six Special Stages on Saturday and Sunday, the 22 and 23 December 2023.

Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) is a rallying Natioinal Championship in different classes with a series of rounds, organised uder the aegis of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), which is the Governing Body or ASN of India recognised by FIA culminating with National Champion Driver and Co-Driver. The driver and co-drivers's championship are based on a point system. The championship first received its National Championship Title status in 1988. Aroor Arjun Rao of Mangaluru is the reigning National champion. Supported by MRF Tyres, he drives for Mandovi Racing team in a Maruti Baleno. The 2024 National Championship begins in Chennai from 15 March 2024 with the South India Rally (SIR) which is also a round of the APRC Asia Cup.

Jagat and Anita Nanjappa are a well-known couple in the sport of motor racing in India. They belong to the Kodava community and are natives of Kodagu district of Karnataka. They have participated and won many motorbike and car rallies in India. Jagat is usually the driver while his wife Anita dons the role of the navigator. Together, they have won nine Indian National Rally Riders Championship awards in the motorbike section from 1986 to 1996. Known for their grit and determination, they once completed a rally despite having a flat rear tyre with Anita having to sit on the petrol tank of the bike for a distance of 70 kilometres (43 mi) to reduce the weight on the flat tyre.
The Madras International Circuit is a permanent motor racing circuit located in Irungattukottai, Chennai, India. It was built in the late 1980s and was inaugurated in 1990. It was the first permanent racing circuit in India and is owned by the Madras Motor Sports Club. In July 2022, the track was renamed as Madras International Circuit.

He is the reigning National champion in the ITC class (2022).
Chandra Kumar Chinnappa born in Bangalore is an Indian motorsports athlete and administrator. He is a racing driver and a rally co-driver. Chinnappa took part in Indian National bike races in various disciplines like rallies, autocross, motocross, hill climb and drag meets, and in later years he became a regular four-wheeler rally co-driver in the Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) for an overall career spanning 34 active years as a competitor. Now he continues as a senior steward of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI).
Karnataka Motor Sports Club, popularly known as KMSC, is a state association for promoting and conducting motorsports in the Indian state of Karnataka. The club is based in Bengaluru. It is a founder member of the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI), the governing body for motor sports in India. It is one of the oldest ‘active’ motorsports clubs in India. It holds the record of organising the Karnataka 1000 rally continuously for the last 48 years.
