KFUPM mathematics olympiad

KFUPM mathematics olympiad is a national mathematics olympiad for secondary school students in Saudi Arabia organized by King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). The competition started in 2006 in one center in Eastern Province then gradually the number of centers increased in the following years to include seven centers over the kingdom (Dhahran, Riyadh, Jeddah, Al-Qasim, Abha, Madina, Al-Hasa).

Contents

In its fifth and sixth edition, the competition managed to involve first and second secondary school students in addition to the third secondary grade students and introduced a center for female students in the Eastern Province. In 2015, it launched two new female centers in Riyadh and Jeddah. [1]

Eligibility

According to the official website of the competition, the applicant has to: [2]

  1. be a Saudi student or a non-Saudi student who is studying in a school in Saudi Arabia.
  2. be a secondary school student (in the 10th, 11th or 12th grade).
  3. have got at least 95% or (A, A+, A*) in mathematics in the previous academic year (or previous semester).

Winners

Many of the Saudi winners of KFUPM Olympiad were selected later on to represent Saudi Arabia in the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). [3] This table lists the winners in ten editions of the competition. KFUPM often offers the winners admission after secondary school graduation.

The self-proclaimed ghost hunters had planned mass incursions into abandoned locations in Dammam, Khobar, Riyadh, Jubail, Hafar al-Batin, Najran, Jeddah and Tabuk and were partly successful before the Saudi law enforcement agencies foiled their attempts.

Wahat al-Nakheel, or One Hundred Palm Trees Park, officially known as the Palm Oasis, is an unfenced municipal garden located between al-Watan Park and al-Yamamah Park in the al-Fouta neighborhood of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The project was the brainchild of Saudi Public Pension Agency and was announced in 2005 as the first smart city of Saudi Arabia, inspired from the model of Dubai Internet City. Opened in 2017, it covers an area of 470 acres, that includes office space tenanted by multinational technology companies and several government ministries. The complex also hosts multiple retail outlets, hospitality and residential areas.

King Khalid Grand Mosque is a Friday mosque and an active place of worship in the Umm al-Hammam al-Gharbi neighborhood of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Built in 1987 and opened in 1988, it incorporates some elements of Turkish architecture and is one of the most prominent landmarks of Riyadh. The mosque usually gets flocked by worshippers during the month of Ramadan to perform Taraweeh prayers and on religious holidays like Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha for Salat al-Eid. It is locally known for providing Islamic funerary services to the deceased, such as ritual baths and prayers and is named after King Khalid bin Abdulaziz, whose relatives funded the mosque's construction.

Al-Qaeda in the Land of the Two Mosques, simply called Al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia was the Saudi Arabian regional branch of Al-Qaeda. It was founded shortly after the September 11 attacks, and dissolved in 2009 after it merged with the Yemeni branch of Al-Qaeda to form Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
