The Tugen are a sub tribe of the Kenyan Kalenjin people. They fall under the highland nilotes category. Daniel Arap Moi, the second president of Kenya (1978–2002), came from this sub-tribe. The Tugen people speak the Tugen language. The Tugen population was 197,556 as of 2019.

The Kapenguria Museum is a museum located in Kapenguria, Kenya. The museum is located inside the prison where prominent leaders of the Kenyan independence movement were held and put on trial in 1952/3. The museum features galleries in the former cells of the prison, including displays on these leaders and the struggle against colonialism, and houses a memorial library in their honour.

Dr. Robert Pukose Satia is a Kenyan politician. He was elected a member of parliament representing Endebess in the National Assembly on 28 March 2013. He is the first MP for the newly created Endebess constituency in Trans-Nzoia County. The constituency is made up of Sabaot, Nandi, Bukusu, Turkana, and Pokot ethnic groups. He vied on a United Republican Party (URP) ticket and emerged victorious after beating his closest rival Joseph Mtoto. He is a trained surgeon and medical doctor by profession. He worked at Kabarnet District Hospital where he was the superintendent.
First opened in 1924 to the public, the Kitale Museum is the first domestic museum opened in Kenya. Originally known as the Stoneham Museum, which was named after Colonel Hugh Stoneham who had been a large contributor and collector of the artifacts held within the museum up until his death in 1966. It was later renamed the Kitale Museum when it was established by the National Museums of Kenya in 1974.
