Early life and education

Kai Madison Trump was born on May 12, 2007 in New York City. She is the first child of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Haydon, and the first grandchild of Donald Trump. [3] She is allegedly named after her great-grandfather, Danish jazz musician Kai Ewans. [4] [5] Kai is a male name in Danish. She is the oldest of five siblings. [3] She attends The Benjamin School in Palm Beach County, Florida and is expected to graduate in 2026. [3]

In August 2024, she verbally committed to attend the University of Miami to play collegiate golf as a member of the 2026 signing class. [6]

Activities

Golf

Trump is an amateur golfer, recognized for her achievements and potential in the sport. [7] [8] [9] She began playing golf at the age of four, having access to elite facilities and mentorship. [10]

At The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, she became the varsity golf team captain in her second year, leading the team to multiple regional and conference championships. [11] Her individual accolades include winning the 2022 Women's Club Championship and the 2024 Ladies Club Championship at Trump International Palm Beach, where she recorded a competitive handicap of +0.5. Despite still being an amateur, she secured a sponsorship with Callaway. [11]

In her free time, she frequently plays golf with her grandfather, former president and president-elect Donald Trump, often joining him on his private courses. [12] [13] [14] [15]

Politics

Trump gave a speech at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, focusing on her relationship with her grandfather. In the speech, she characterized her grandfather as "just a normal grandpa" and called him an inspiration. [16] [17] John Mulholland called the speech "part of a politically calculated makeover" and labeled Kai Trump as "the latest recruit to the Trump Family Cult", while Van Jones said that "The granddaughter came out and opened up our hearts" and said that Kai Trump did a good job of humanizing Donald Trump and making him appear likeable. [3] [18] [19] Trump herself has said that she is not interested in running for public office, saying that "I just stay out of that and focus on golf." [3] [20]

Social media

Following her appearance at the RNC in July 2024, Trump received significant attention, with her Instagram account jumping from 125,000 to 185,000 followers in less than 24 hours, and the account had more than 333,000 followers by the end of July. [3]

Trump received significant attention for vlogging the celebration of Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 United States presidential election and for saying that Elon Musk had "attained uncle status" on November 10 following his extended support of Donald Trump's campaign and candidacy. As of December 2, 2024, Trump's YouTube channel had 528,000 subscribers and her account on TikTok had nearly 1.3 million followers. [21] [22] [23] Following the election, she was highlighted as a potentially important influencer in improving Donald Trump's popularity among young women, and a powerful ally on social media.
