Location

Kalabuda is situated about 65 kilometres (40 mi) from Cuttack and 12 km (7 mi) from Kendrapara town, on the bank of Chitroptala river. The Kalabuda (A), Kalabuda (B) and Kalabuda (C) wards are under this village.

History

"Kalabuda" literally means "art hub" from "kala" (art) and "buda" (hub) in Oriya language). It refers to the prevalence of local artisans.

Chakradhara Satapathy was the former MLA of the Patakura assembly constituency. He was elected from the Patakura assembly constituency to the state assembly as a Praja Socialist Party (PSP) candidate in 1967 after defeating former chief minister Biju Patnaik. Wooden dolls are tied to strings which are controlled by pulling and releasing the strings. Different expression by pulling the strings narrate tales from the Puranas and modern social life.
