Kalum King is a Gaelic football player from County Down. He plays for the Down senior inter-county football team and with his local club, Bryansford. [1]

King first played for Down in 2004, when he played a role in Down's promotion run in the national league that year.[ citation needed ] Following the 2005 season, King took a break from the sport to concentrate on his studies at Queens University.[ citation needed ] He restarted his county career in 2010 under the management of James McCartan.[ citation needed ] During the 2010 season, King started every game and the team gained promotion from Division 2.[ citation needed ] In the 2010 championship, the team progressed to the All-Ireland Final against Cork. King was recognised for his performances in the 2010 championship by receiving an All-Star Nomination, as well as picking up the East Down player of the year within his own county.[ citation needed ] He was appointed Down's vice captain in 2012 and was captain for various McKenna Cup and National League games.[ citation needed ]

At club level, King was part of the Bryansford championship-winning side in 2003,[ citation needed ] and he was part of the side that won the league title in 2014 after a match against Mayobridge in Kilcoo. [2] He also picked up a county U-21 title in 2003.[ citation needed ]

Outside of Gaelic games, King has also been involved in boxing, [3] and represented the Ulster boxing team in South Africa in 2008.[ citation needed ]
