Kalyani Bondre (born 1981) is an academic (Economist), Indian classical vocalist and Kathak Dancer.
Kalyani Bondre (Marathi: कल्याणी बोन्द्रे) was born in Pune, India, into a musical family. She received initial guidance in music from her parents, both musicians in their own right. As a child, Kalyani was more interested in classical dance and hence took lessons in Kathak dance from Guru Maneesha Sathe, disciple of the famous Pandit Gopi Krishna.
Kalyani trained in vocal classical music earlier under Ranjana Bhide, disciple of Pandit Gangadharbuwa Pimpalkhare. Later, she learned from Guru Manisha Shrikhande, who is a disciple of Leelatai and Vilasrao Khandekar of the Kirana Gharana; and Pandit Krishnakant Parikh and Dr. Shobha Abhyankar of the Mewati Gharana(both disciples of Padmavibhushan Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj). Kalyani has also received guidance in music from Ustad Faiyaaz Hussain Khan of the Gwalior Gharana and Ustad Usman Khan of the Beenkar Gharana of instrumental music.
Bondre holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pune and Master's degrees in both Economics, and Human Resource Management, and is a member of management department from Jaipur.
Kalyani specializes in Hindustani Classical Music and Marathi Natyasangeet (1). She also presents other forms like Bhaavgeet, ghazals, devotional music like bhajans and abhangas as well as fusion music.(2)(3)
Kalyani Bondre was honoured by the Pune Municipal Corporation for her contribution to Indian Classical Music at the hands of the then Mayor of Pune, Mr. Dattatreya Dhankawade in the presence of the Municipal Commissioner of Pune, Mr. Kunal Kumar on India's Republic Day on 26 January 2016. (4) She received the Phoenix Leading Lady Award 2018 at the hands of actress Tabu (5) and was awarded at an International Song Contest organised by Graduate Women International in 2019 (6) and Pioneering Woman Leader Award in 2020 at the World Women's Congress in Mumbai
Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi, also known by the honorific prefix Pandit, was one of the greatest Indian vocalists from Karnataka in the Hindustani classical tradition. He is known for the khayal form of singing, as well as for his popular renditions of devotional music. Joshi belongs to the Kirana gharana tradition of Hindustani Classical Music. He is noted for his concerts, and between 1964 and 1982 Joshi toured Afghanistan, Italy, France, Canada and USA. He was the first musician from India whose concerts were advertised through posters in New York City. Joshi was instrumental in organising the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival annually, as homage to his guru, Sawai Gandharva.
Hindustani classical music is the classical music of the Indian subcontinent's northern regions. It may also be called North Indian classical music or Uttar Bhartiya shastriya sangeet. The term shastriya sangeet literally means classical music, and is also used to refer to Indian classical music in general. It is played on instruments like the veena, sitar and sarod. It diverged in the 12th century CE from Carnatic music, the classical tradition of Southern India. While Carnatic music largely uses compositions written in Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindustani music largely uses compositions written in Hindi, Urdu, Braj, Avadhi, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Rajasthani, Marathi and Punjabi.

Prabha Atre was an Indian classical vocalist from the Kirana gharana. She was awarded all three of the Padma Awards by the Government of India. She died after experiencing breathing difficulty in the early hours and was taken to Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital. She died from cardiac arrest before reaching the hospital. Atre died on 13 January 2024, at the age of 91.
Ganesh Balawant Nawathe, better known as Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki, was an Indian vocalist, composer and scholar of Indian classical, semi-classical, and devotional music. While he distinguished himself in Hindustani music, he is also credited for the revival of the Marathi musical theatre in the 1960s. Abhisheki has been praised as being among the stalwarts of Hindustani classical music who mastered other musical forms such as thumri, tappa, bhajan, and bhavgeet. His work in Marathi natyasangeet is well-known.

Mahesh Kale is an Indian Classical vocalist and playback singer renowned for his specialization in Indian Classical (Hindustani), Semi-Classical, Devotional music including Natya Sangeet. Mahesh Kale won the 63rd National Film Award as the Best Playback Singer, for the song Aruni Kirani in the film Katyar Kaljat Ghusli. He is a disciple of Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki. He was ranked nineteenth in The Times of India's Top 20 Most Desirable Men of Maharashtra in 2017. He was also a prominent singer of the Agra Gharana. However he never believed in rigid compartments of Sangeet Gharanas. He was also influenced by the style of Jaipur Gharana. There was an unusual conjunction of various gharanas of Indian Classical Music in Pandit Abhisheki Ji as it was evolved after deep thinking.
Ramchandra Purushottam Marathe, also known as Pandit Ram Marathe, was a Marathi music director, singer, and actor on stage and in films. As a child actor, he performed the title role of Krishna in Prabhat Film Company's 1938 film, Gopal Krishna. He was disciple of Vilayat Hussain Khan, the maestro of Agra gharana of Hindustani classical music., Master Krishnarao Phulambrikar and others. Through Master krishnarao, he developed his Khayal style which had elements of different gharanas such as Jaipur, Gwalior and Agra.

Pandit S. Ballesh Bhajantri is a popular Indian classical Hindustani shehnai player. He is a disciple of shehnai player Ustad Bismillah Khan, he is benares gharana shehnai player and a patiala gharana hindustani vocalist, ghazal singer, Indian playback singer and musician, Ballesh is credited with popularizing the shehnai, a reeded woodwind instrument. He is also a Prasar Bharati's All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan artist.
Maya Rao was an Indian classical dancer, choreographer and educator, in Kathak dance. She is known for her pioneering work in Kathak choreography, especially in dance ballets, and is credited for bringing Kathak, a North Indian-dance style to South India, when she opened her dance school, Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography (NIKC) in Malleswaram, Bangalore in 1987. She was also the founder director of her dance company, "Natya and Stem Dance Kampni", an amalgam of NIKC and the STEM Dance Kampni based in Bangalore. After her early training under Guru Sohanlal of Jaipur Gharana, followed by Guru Sunder Prasad also of the Jaipur Gharana, and went to train under Guru Shambhu Maharaj of Lucknow Gharana at Kathak Kendra in Delhi.
