Kalyani Roy (born 14 January 1967) is an Indian politician, representing Bharatiya Janata Party and serving as the present Government Chief Whip of Tripura Legislative Assembly and MLA of Teliamura constituency since March, 2018. She is the first woman to hold the office of Government Chief Whip in the state of Tripura, India. [1]
Tripura is a state in Northeast India. The third-smallest state in the country, it covers 10,491 km2 (4,051 sq mi); and the seventh-least populous state with a population of 36.71 lakh. Manik Sarkar is an Indian communist politician who served as the Chief Minister of Tripura from March 1998 to March 2018. He is a Politburo member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). In March 2008, he was sworn in as leader of Left Front, the Tripura coalition government. In assembly elections held in 2013, he became the chief minister for the fourth consecutive time. He served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Tripura Legislative Assembly from 2018 to 2023.

The 2018 Tripura Legislative Assembly election was held on 18 February for 59 of the state's 60 constituencies. The counting of votes took place on 3 March 2018. With 43.59% of the vote, the BJP secured a majority of seats (36) and subsequently formed the government with Biplab Kumar Deb as Chief Minister. The former governing Left Front alliance while receiving 44.35% of the vote secured only 16 seats.

He is formerly served as 2nd Deputy Chief Minister of the Indian state of Tripura from 2018 to 2023. Jishnu Dev Varma was elected from the Charilam constituency in Tripura Legislative Assembly Assembly From 2018 till 2023. He is also President of Badminton Association of India.
