Kana Abe (阿部 香菜, Abe Kana, born 25 April 1988) is a Japanese judoka. [1]
At the 2013 World Judo Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Abe competed in the women's 63 kg category where she reached the semifinal and finished fifth. She was also part of the Japanese team that won gold in the women's team competition.
Abe married Asian and World Champion judoka Masashi Ebinuma in 2014. [2]
Yawara! is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoki Urasawa. It was serialized in Big Comic Spirits from 1986 to 1993, with its chapters collected into 29 tankōbon volumes by publisher Shōgakukan. The story centers around Yawara Inokuma, a seemingly ordinary high school girl, but her grandfather, a living judo legend, has been secretly training her since she was a child so that she can win the gold medal at the Olympic Games. But Yawara has only one desire, to have a normal life.
The World Judo Championships are the highest level of international judo competition, along with the Olympic judo competition. The championships are held once every year by the International Judo Federation, and qualified judoka compete in their respective categories as representatives of their home countries. Team competitions have also been held since 1994. The men's championships began in 1956, though the format and periodicity of the championships have changed over time. The last edition of the championships took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in 2024.
Ayumi Tanimoto born 4 August 1981, in Anjo, Aichi, is a Japanese judoka. She was coached by Toshihiko Koga, who is a gold medalist at the Barcelona Olympics and a silver medalist at the Atlanta Olympics Men's Judo. Tanimoto won the Women's –63 kg category gold medal at the Athens Olympics in 2004 and at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
Masashi Ebinuma is a Japanese judoka. Ebinuma is a triple world champion, having won in 2011, 2013 and 2014. A dominant force in the half-lightweight division, he was ranked first in the world for three years. He is regarded as an ultimate stylist of seoi nage. He is also known for being a quadruple All-Japan national champion.
