Candice McClure [1] (born 22 March 1980 [2] ), known professionally as Kandyse McClure, is a Canadian actress. [3] [4] She gained prominence through her roles in the Fox Family series Higher Ground (2000), the NBC and Syfy adaptations of Stephen King's Carrie (2002) and Children of the Corn (2009), and as Anastasia Dualla in Battlestar Galactica (2004–2009), also on Syfy. She led the film Sew the Winter to My Skin (2018).
McClure was in the main casts of Persons Unknown (2010) and Ghost Wars (2018), also on NBC and Syfy. She had a recurring role as Dr. Clementine Chasseur in the Netflix series Hemlock Grove (2013). [5]
Candice McClure [1] was born in the Greenwood Park area of North Durban, South Africa. [6] Her mother is an educator and her father is a musician. [7] From the age of four, McClure moved back and forth between South Africa and Canada. She completed her secondary education at West Vancouver Secondary School in 1998.[ citation needed ] McClure was cast in a production of Athol Fugard's Valley Song at the age of 17. [8]
McClure's first television appearance was a lead role with Lou Diamond Phillips in the 1999 television film In a Class of His Own that was followed by the Fox Family teen drama Higher Ground and the NBC Saturday-morning series Just Deal , both of which premiered in 2000. The year 2000 was also the time period when McClure played a recurring role in the Canadian drama television series Da Vinci’s Inquest. [9]
In 2002, McClure portrayed the recurring role of Elizabeth Munroe on Showtime's Jeremiah . [9] Also in that year, the actress played the role of Sue Snell in the television film remake of Stephen King's novel Carrie . [10] Also in 2002, McClure guest starred as Annie Fisher in two episodes of James Cameron's science fiction drama television series Dark Angel on Fox.
From 2003 to 2009 , McClure played the role as Anastasia "Dee" Dualla on the Sci Fi Channel series Battlestar Galactica . McClure's character, a Petty Officer Second Class in the Colonial Fleet, has never appeared in the original 1978 series, but was initially an analogue of Sarah Rush's original series character Flight Corporal Rigel. McClure was a regular cast member of the series until January 2009. [11]
McClure then appeared in a 2009 television adaptation of King's Children of the Corn [12] and the Carl Bessai feature film from the same year Cole. In 2010 the television series Persons Unknown , in which McClure co-starred, premiered, [13] but the series was not renewed for a second season after it was initially picked up by NBC. [14]
In 2011 McClure played the girlfriend of Stuart Davis in the independent short film Just Be Yourself, a comedy about a desperate man who is offered a job to "just be himself." [15] [16] McClure then joined Davis again in 2011 to co-host the second season of the late-night HDNet program Sex, God, Rock 'n' Roll. [17] In 2012 McClure joined the cast of Netflix original series Hemlock Grove (premiered in January 2013 [12] ) [18] and completed the feature film Broken Kingdom (alongside Rachael Leigh Cook). [12] McClure has also appeared in other television programs, such as Whistler , Andromeda , Jake 2.0 , Smallville , and Reaper . [9]
On 2 February 2016, Historica Canada featured Viola Desmond in the 82nd Heritage Minute , [19] to mark the beginning of Black History Month. The video was filmed on location in High River, Alberta in June 2015. It features Kandyse McClure as Viola Desmond, [20] a civil rights activist and entrepreneur who challenged segregation in Nova Scotia in the 1940s.
As of 2013, McClure continues to work with the non-profit organization CARE Canada to address poverty in the world's developing regions. [12] As of 2013 [update] , McClure resides in Vancouver, British Columbia. [12]
McClure is married to musician Ian Cylenz Lee. [21] He proposed to her when they were visiting her family in South Africa in December 2012. [8]

Battlestar Galactica is an American science fiction media franchise created by Glen A. Larson. It began with the original television series in 1978, and was followed by a short-run sequel series, Galactica 1980, a line of book adaptations, original novels, comic books, a board game, and video games. A reimagined version aired as a two-part, three-hour miniseries developed by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick in 2003, followed by a 2004 television series, which aired until 2009. A prequel series, Caprica, aired in 2010.
Ronald Dowl Moore is an American screenwriter and television producer. He is best known for his work on Star Trek, as well as on the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica television series, for which he won a Peabody Award, and on Outlander, based on the novels of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. In 2019, he created and wrote the series For All Mankind for Apple TV+.
Katee Sackhoff is an American actress. She is known for playing Lieutenant Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on the Sci Fi Channel's television program Battlestar Galactica (2004–2009), Niko Breckenridge on the Netflix series Another Life (2019–2021), Victoria "Vic" Moretti on the A&E / Netflix series Longmire and Bo-Katan Kryze on the Disney+ series The Mandalorian (2020–present). She also provided the voice for Kryze in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels (2017) and Star Wars: Tales of the Empire (2024), as well as the voice of Bitch Pudding on Robot Chicken (2005–present). Jamie St John Bamber Griffith, known professionally as Jamie Bamber, is a British actor, known for his roles as Lee Adama in Battlestar Galactica and Detective Sergeant Matt Devlin in the ITV series Law & Order: UK. He also had a supporting role as 2nd Lt. Jack Foley in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers, as Lieutenant Archie Kennedy in the Hornblower series and was a regular on the British series Ultimate Force and Peak Practice. In 2013, Bamber starred in the TNT medical drama Monday Mornings and, in 2014, in the Sky 1 drama The Smoke.

Caprica is a 2010 American science fiction drama television series, which is a prequel spin-off of the 2004–2009 series Battlestar Galactica. Caprica is set 58 years before the main series, and shows how humanity first created the Cylon androids who would later turn against their human masters. Among Caprica's main characters are the father and uncle of William Adama, the man who becomes the senior surviving military leader of the fleet which represents the remnants of the Twelve Colonies in Battlestar Galactica.
"Occupation" is the third season premiere and 34th episode of the re-imagined American science fiction drama television series Battlestar Galactica. The episode was written by re-imagined creator Ronald D. Moore, and directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan. It first aired on October 6, 2006 on the Sci-Fi Channel along with the following episode "Precipice". In the episode, the Cylons are in their fourth month of a military occupation on New Caprica, where the majority of the human population are residing. A resistance movement is trying to drive the Cylons away. Meanwhile, Admiral William Adama continues his plan to rescue everybody there. Unlike most episodes up to this point, it does not include a survivor count, leaving it unclear as to how many died when several ships were destroyed in the previous episode.

Hemlock Grove is an American horror television series produced by Eli Roth and developed by Brian McGreevy and Lee Shipman. It is a production of Gaumont International Television. The series is based on McGreevy's 2012 novel of the same name. The series premiered on Netflix on April 19, 2013, with all 13 episodes made immediately available for online viewing.
