Kaneez is a 1949 Indian Hindi-language drama film, directed and produced by Krishan Kumar, starring Shyam, Munawar Sultana and Kuldip Kaur in lead roles. [1] [2]
Sabira is the daughter of a wealthy man, Akbar, who is cheated by his manager, Hamid, and forced into a mental home. Sabira marries Hamid's son, Akhtar, but the marriage is destroyed by a woman called Darling, who is after Akhtar for his money. Sabira is forced to become a servant in her own house, but she recovers her place as the mistress as Darling is exposed and Akhtar realized her worth for him.
The music was composed by the two very well known composers then, Ghulam Haider and Hansraj Behl [1] with a large playback of Shamshad Begum, Mohammad Rafi, Surinder Kaur, [1] [3] Geeta Dutt, Zeenat Begum, G. M. Durrani, [4] S. D. Batish and Rajkumari Dubey. The lyrics were written by Hasrat Lucknavi, Sarshar Sailani, Shahir Ghaznavi and Harishchandra Akhtar. O.P. Nayyar composed the background music. [1]

Patanga is a 1949 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film. It was the first film produced and distributed by Varma Films; yet,It was the seventh highest grossing Indian film of 1949. The film was directed by H. S. Rawail based on a story written by his wife Anjana Rawail. Rajendra Kumar, who would become one of the leading actors in Indian cinema, worked in Patanga as an assistant to director H.S. Rawail and also had a cameo in the film. A duet sung against the backdrop of WW2, "Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon", picturised on actor Gope and lead heroine Nigar Sultana became popular. The playback singers for the song were C. Ramchandra, who also composed the music for the film, and Shamshad Begum. The cast included Nigar Sultana, Shyam, Yakub, Gope, Purnima, Shyama, Randhir and Mohana.
