Kapan Futsal, are an Armenian professional futsal club based in the town of Kapan, Syunik Province. [1]

Kapan Town in Syunik, Armenia

Kapan is a town at the southeast of Armenia, serving as the administrative centre of the urban community of Kapan as well as the provincial capital of Syunik Province. It is located in the valley of the Voghji River, on the northern slopes of Mount Khustup. According to the 2011 census, the population of Kapan is 43,190, slightly declined from 45,711 in the 2001 census. Kapan is the most populous town in the Syunik Province and the entire region of southern Armenia. However, the current population of the town is around 34,600 as per the 2016 official estimate.

History

Kapan Futsal club was founded in 2017 by the former mayor of the town of Kapan Ashot Hayrapetyan. [2] The club participated in the 2017-18 season of the Armenian Futsal Premier League, playing their home games at the Davit Hambardzumyan Sports School of Kapan. The club's first ever competitive match took place on 1 October 2017 in Kapan, when they defeated Sh.S.U. Futsal by 9 goals to 6 in matchday 1 of the season.

The Premier League is the premier futsal league in Armenia. It was founded in 1998. The Premier League, which is played under UEFA rules and organized by Football Federation of Armenia, currently consists of 5 teams.

Sh.S.U. Futsal

Shirak State University Futsal Club, shortly known as Sh.S.U. Futsal, is an Armenian professional futsal club based in Gyumri, representing the Shirak State University named after Mikael Nalbandian.

At the end of their inaugural season, the team occupied the 6th position among 8 participant teams, losing the chance to advance to the final four play-off stage. [3]

Shirak were knocked out of the Armenian Cup by Gandzasar Kapan at the Semifinal stage and the Europa League by Gorica in the First Qualifying Round.

Leo Futsal

Leo Futsal, is an Armenian professional futsal club, playing in the Armenian Futsal Premier League. The club was founded in 2016 in Yerevan. In 2016-2017 it won the Armenian Futsal Premier League and got a chance to participate in UEFA Champions League. In the first season of Armenian Futsal Premier League, Leo had 129 goals and 41 goals in the second season. The first season of UEFA was held in Cyprus and the second season in Croatia. In 2017-2018 Leo Club won the Armenian Futsal Premier League one more time and went on to take part in the Champions League in Sweden. Currently, it continues its activities in the 2018-2019 Armenian Futsal Premier League.

The 2017–18 season is Pyunik's 24th season in the Armenian Premier League.

Alaverdi Futsal, are an Armenian professional futsal club based in the town of Alaverdi, Lori Province.

The 2018–19 Armenian Premier League season is the 27th since its establishment. The season began in August 2018 and is scheduled to conclude in May 2019.
