The National Polytechnic University of Armenia, is a technical university located in Yerevan, Armenia. Established as the Karl Marx Institute of Polytechnic in 1933, it provides educational and research programs in various fields of technology and science related to engineering. The university includes a Central Campus in Yerevan and Branch Campuses located in Gyumri, Vanadzor and Kapan. Currently there are more than 8,000 students and more than 750 faculty members.
A wide array of sports are played in Armenia. Popular Sports in Armenia include football, basketball, volleyball and hockey. Further, the country sends athletes to the Olympics in boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, judo, gymnastics, track and field, diving, swimming and shooting. Armenia's mountainous terrain provides great opportunities for the practice of sports like skiing and rock climbing. Being a landlocked country, water sports can only be practiced on lakes, notably Lake Sevan. Competitively, Armenia has been very successful at chess, weightlifting, and wrestling at the international level. Armenia is also an active member of the international sports community, with full membership in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Federation of International Bandy (FIB), and International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It also hosts the Pan-Armenian Games.
Lori FC, is an Armenian football club from Vanadzor, Lori Province. Originally founded in 1936, Lori has participated in the domestic football competition of Soviet Armenia. After retiring from professional football in 2002, the club was revived in 2017 winning the 2017–18 Armenian First League competition.

The 1994 season was the third season of football in Armenia following the break-up of the Soviet Union. Professional football consisted of two divisions, the Armenian Premier League and the Armenian First League. Out of the sixteen Premier League teams, five would be relegated, while only the First League winner would be promoted for the 1995 season, reducing the top level to twelve clubs.
1995 in Armenian football was a transitional season. For this season the Armenian Premier League was composed of twelve clubs in two groups of six. No championship was awarded, and no teams were relegated or promoted.

Vanadzor State University named after Hovhannes Tumanyan (VSU), is a public university in Vanadzor, Lori Province, Armenia. With 5 faculties, it is the largest university in the Lori Province. It provides degrees in Philology, History and Geography, Pedagogy, Biology and Chemistry, and Physics and Mathematics. Currently, more than 2,400 students are attending the university.

Founded in 2016 in Yerevan, the clubs was relocated to Vanadzor in September 2018. The team is a founding member of the Armenia Basketball League A.
