Karachi: The Musical is Pakistan's first original Broadway-style Urdu musical, with music by Hamza Jafri and lyrics by Faraz Lodhi. [1] [2] [3] Set in the Lyari area of Karachi, the story revolves around an aspiring boxer, Saif Salam, who travels from Mailsi to train with the country's best boxing coach, Ghulam Bashir. It guest-starred Munawar Saeed as Dara Jokhio, a former gangster.

Productions

The musical opened in Karachi on 22 October 2011 and ran until 13 November. [4] An all Pakistan tour was planned for March 2012. [2] The show's band included Asad Zafar (Guitarist), Sheraz (Tabla), Manzoor Ahmed (Violinist), Joshua Fernandes (Drummer), and Danish Manzoor (Keyboardist).

Synopsis

Saif Salaam (Imam Syed) travels from Mailsi, Multan to train with Pakistan's best boxing coach, Ghulam Bashir (Faraz Lodhi), who owned the Ghulam Bashir Boxing club in Lyari. But there is one catch: Bashir has not coached anyone in the last two decades since he had a falling out with his best friend Daud Islam (Adnan Jaffar), who now runs the local mafia that controls drugs, prostitution, and betting houses in one of the most troubled parts of the city.

As Saif learns how to spar, he realizes that his decision to train for a professional boxing career has sparked tension between the age old rivals, put the livelihood of thousands in the area at risk, and exposed his family to grave danger.

The 2004–05 ABN-AMRO Twenty-20 Cup was the first edition of the ABN-AMRO Twenty-20 Cup, a domestic Twenty20 tournament in Pakistan sponsored by ABN AMRO. It was held from 25 to 30 April 2005 in Lahore. The Faisalabad Wolves won the tournament by defeating the Karachi Dolphins in the final. As the winners, the Faisalabad Wolves were invited to compete in the International 20:20 Club Championship in September 2005, which they also won.

Jeeto Pakistan is a Pakistani game show, hosted by actor Fahad Mustafa on ARY Digital. The show was launched on May 18,2014. It has been called the "biggest game show" in Pakistan. Jeeto Pakistan's participants are selected randomly from a studio audience who require passes to attend the show.

Pakistan competed at the 2014 Asian Games held in Incheon, South Korea between 19 September and 5 October 2014. It sent 182 athletes to compete in 23 sports. It was defending its title in hockey (men's), squash and cricket (women's) but successfully managed to defend the women's cricket title only.

Uzair Jan Baloch is a Pakistani gangster and former crime lord originally from Karachi, Pakistan. He was a key figurehead of Karachi underworld and notorious gang war in his hometown, Lyari, at his peak around 2012. Baloch is accused in various cases involving murder, extortion, drug trafficking, terrorism, and after being arrested many times, became a fugitive wanted by law enforcement agencies. Due to his influential ties, it is alleged that Baloch enjoyed political patronage and was "protected" by the ruling PPP from facing charges but was eventually nabbed after intervention of federal authorities. Baloch denies all the charges against him and says they are "politically motivated". He is also the former chief of the Peoples Aman Committee, which was a militant group linked to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
