Karen Kopins Shaw (born October 10, 1961) [1] is an American beauty pageant winner, former actress and former model.
Kopins was born on October 10, 1961. [1] Kopins attended Ridgefield High School [2] and graduated from Marymount College before moving to California to pursue an acting career.[ citation needed ]
She was Miss Connecticut 1977, having entered the pageant as Miss Ridgefield. [2]
Kopins starred in films Fast Forward , Creator , Once Bitten , opposite Jim Carrey, [3] and Jake Speed , and appeared in guest roles in various television shows, such as The A-Team and Riptide . [4] She was cast as one of Charlie's Angels in the unaired spinoff Angels '88. Kopins had a small role in an episode of Amazing Stories , one of two directed by series creator Steven Spielberg. Other than one-off guest appearances, her only recurring role on a series was during seasons 11 and 13 of Dallas , playing Kay Lloyd, a love interest of Bobby Ewing. [1]
In 1990, Kopins married her high school sweetheart, property developer Marc Shaw, with whom she has four children. [5] The family lived in Litchfield, Connecticut's Rye House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, from 2000 to 2012. [5]

While Ms. Arrington has a long-standing history of hosting a national Miss Black USA Scholarship Pageant, her system has not been exclusive in doing so consecutively. As indicated by the chart below, there have been some years where "no pageant was held" by Ms. Arrington's State of Maryland organized non-profit, for example in years such as 1998, 1999 and 2000. However, similar to Miss USA and Miss America both being national systems, there have been other non-profits to host national scholarship pageants to celebrate Black women, with documented queens.
