Karin Anna Cheung (born November 2, 1974) is an American actress, singer, songwriter, and artist. [1]

Early life and education

Cheung was born on November 2, 1974, in Los Angeles, California. In 1998, she graduated from California State University, Northridge, with a degree in art. [2]

Career

Cheung's first audition for feature films landed her the female lead role as Stephanie Vandergosh in Better Luck Tomorrow (2002) directed by Justin Lin. She also plays the lead, Angela, in Quentin Lee's feature film The People I've Slept With (2009). [3] In 2012, Cheung voice acted as the lead role of Kaz Suyeishi in the animated short film Hibakusha , directed by Steve Nguyen and Choz Belen. Cheung also appeared in Quentin Lee's horror film, The Unbidden, alongside Michelle Krusiec, Tamlyn Tomita and Julia Nickson-Soul.

On January 20, 2009, Cheung performed at Barack Obama's inauguration as president. [2]

Better Luck Tomorrow is a 2002 American crime-drama film directed by Justin Lin. The film is about Asian American overachievers who become bored with their lives and enter a world of petty crime and material excess. Better Luck Tomorrow introduced film audiences to a cast including Parry Shen, Jason Tobin, Sung Kang, Roger Fan, and John Cho. The film was based loosely on the murder of Stuart Tay, a teenager from Orange County, California, by four Sunny Hills High School honor students on December 31, 1992.

Parry Shen is an American actor, author, screenwriter, and producer. Shen's first major acting role was in Better Luck Tomorrow as Ben Manibag, the film's leading character. He also starred in another Asian American film, Surrogate Valentine. He has since starred in the horror film Hatchet and its sequels Hatchet II, Hatchet III, and Victor Crowley. He had a recurring role as Tyler Li in the television series Tru Calling. Since 2013, he has portrayed the role of Brad Cooper on General Hospital.

He also served as a producer for that film as well. Sakai has also co-written the screenplay for a horror film entitled The Haunted Highway (2006) along with Naoko Ihara Witmer and directed by Junichi Suzuki, which was distributed by Lions Gate DVD in 2005. In 2013, he wrote and produced the "first Asian American serial killer film" entitled Chink, starring Jason Tobin, Eugenia Yuan, Tzi Ma and more, which was directed by Stanley Yung and produced by Quentin Lee.
