Named for Richard Montgomery, it stands beside the Alabama River, on the coastal Plain of the Gulf of Mexico. In the 2010 Census, Montgomery's population was 205,764. It is the second most populous city in Alabama, after Birmingham, and is the 118th most populous in the United States. The Montgomery Metropolitan Statistical Area's population in 2010 was estimated at 374,536; it is the fourth largest in the state and 136th among United States metropolitan areas.
Baldwin County is a county located in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Alabama, on the Gulf coast. According to the 2019 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the population is approximately 223,234. The county seat is Bay Minette. The county is named in honor of Senator Abraham Baldwin, though he never lived in what is now Alabama.

It is a principal city of the Daphne-Fairhope-Foley metropolitan area, which includes all of Baldwin County.

In 2016, Fairhope was named the best small town in the South by Southern Living magazine.

Magnolia Springs is a town in south Baldwin County, Alabama, United States, in the Daphne–Fairhope–Foley Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town voted to incorporate in 2006. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 723.
Coastal Alabama Community College is a public community college with nine campuses in southern Alabama: Bay Minette, Fairhope, Gulf Shores, Atmore, Brewton, Gilbertown, Jackson, Monroeville, and Thomasville. It is a member of the Alabama Community College System. Coastal Alabama was formed through the consolidation of Alabama Southern Community College, Faulkner State Community College, and Jefferson Davis Community College.
Catherine Elizabeth Pugh is an American former politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she served as the 50th mayor of Baltimore from 2016 to 2019, when she resigned amid a scandal that eventually led to criminal charges. Pugh has been involved in Maryland politics since 1999, when she was elected to the Baltimore City Council. She has also held office in the Maryland House of Delegates and the Maryland Senate, serving as the Majority Leader from 2015—2016. She first ran for Baltimore mayor in 2011 and lost the primary to Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. Pugh ran again in 2016 and won the primary against former Mayor Sheila Dixon. Pugh then won the mayoral election on November 8, 2016, with 57% of the popular vote, and took office on December 6, 2016. She was Baltimore's third consecutive female mayor.
Richard Owen Kingrea is a former American football linebacker who played eight seasons in the National Football League for the Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, and the New Orleans Saints. He played college football at Tulane University. After football, Kingrea became an attorney and served as City Councilman in Fairhope, Alabama.

Perdido Beach is a town located on the northern shore of Perdido Bay, between the mouths of Soldier Creek and Palmetto Creek in Baldwin County, Alabama, United States. In an April 2009 plebiscite, over 60% of local voters supported incorporation as a town. On June 10, 2009, Baldwin County Probate Judge Adrian Johns issued an order which incorporated the area as a town. The first municipal elections, in which the mayor and town council will be elected, were scheduled for the fall of 2009. As of the 2010 census, the town had a population of 581.
Martha Kehres Roby is an American attorney and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Alabama's 2nd congressional district since 2011. A member of the Republican Party, she defeated the incumbent Democratic U.S. Representative Bobby Bright in 2010. That year, Roby and Terri Sewell became the first women elected to Congress from Alabama in regular elections. On July 26, 2019, Roby announced she would retire from Congress at the end of her current term, which ends in 2021.
The Baldwin County Board of Education oversees all public schools in Baldwin County, Alabama, and is based in Bay Minette, Alabama. The Board serves the entire county. Over 30,000 students are within the supervision of the Board. 3,400 employees including 2,100 classroom teachers, serve the students at its campuses. The Board of Education is the largest single employer in Baldwin County. In 2017, Gulf Shores approved a plan create a separate school district and began breaking away from Baldwin County School System. The city of Gulf Shores broke away from the Baldwin County Public Schools system at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year. The Gulf Shores City Schools operate 3 schools, one elementary, one middle, and one high school.
Gary James Palmer is an American politician from the state of Alabama. Elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2014, he represents Alabama's 6th congressional district. The district includes the wealthier portions of Birmingham, as well as most of that city's suburbs. Prior to his career as an elected official, Palmer co-founded and served as the long-time president of the Alabama Policy Institute, a conservative think tank. He is a member of the Republican Party and the Freedom Caucus in the House of Representatives.

The 2018 Alabama gubernatorial election took place on November 6, 2018, to elect the Governor of Alabama. Incumbent Republican Governor Kay Ivey, who took office on April 10, 2017, upon the resignation of Governor Robert Bentley, ran for election to a full term and won over Tuscaloosa mayor Walt Maddox. Ivey was sworn into office on January 14, 2019.
On November 22, 2018, Emantic Fitzgerald Bradford Jr., an African-American man, was shot three times from behind and killed by Hoover police on the night of Thanksgiving, at the Riverchase Galleria shopping mall in Hoover, Alabama. Police responded to a shooting at the mall where two people were shot. Another African-American man suspected in the first shooting was arrested in Georgia a week later and charged in the shooting of one of those injured. Bradford was holding a legally owned weapon when shot and was not involved in the prior shooting incident, although near the crime scene. The shooting of Bradford was immediately controversial, and was condemned by the Alabama National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) as an example of racially biased policing.
The 2020 United States House of Representatives elections in Alabama will be held on November 3, 2020, to elect the seven U.S. Representatives from the state of Alabama, one from each of the state's seven congressional districts. The elections will coincide with the 2020 U.S. presidential election, as well as other elections to the House of Representatives, elections to the United States Senate and various state and local elections.
