The Tunga River is a river in Karnataka state, southern India. The river is born in the Western Ghats on a hill known as Varaha Parvata at a place called Gangamoola. From here, the river flows through two districts in Karnataka - Chikmagalur District and Shimoga District. It is 147 km long and merges with the Bhadra River at Koodli, a small town near Shimoga City, Karnataka. The river is given the compound name Tungabhadra from this point on. The Indian State of Karnataka is located 11°30' North and 18°30' North latitudes and 74° East and 78°30' East longitude. It is situated on a tableland where the Western and Eastern Ghat ranges converge into the complex, in the western part of the Deccan Peninsular region of India. The Gurupura River is a river in the Karnataka state of India. It originates in the Western Ghats and is a tributary of the Netravati River, which empties into the Arabian Sea, south of Mangalore. It gets its name from the town Gurupura situated near Mangalore. The New Mangalore Port and Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers are situated on its northern banks. Once upon a time it formed northern boundary of Mangalore city along with Netravati River as southern boundary but currently it forms the boundary only for the central part of Mangalore due to the growth of the city beyond these river boundaries.

State Highway 88 is a state highway connecting Mysore and Bantwal in the South Indian state of Karnataka. It has a total length of 220 kilometres (140 mi). It connects Mysore with the hill station of Madikeri and the port city of Mangalore. The road is also used as an alternate route to connect Mysore to Northern Kerala via Hunsur, Gonikoppa and Kutta. In 2010, the Karnataka Police deployed police vehicles to ensure safety on the highway. The road is maintained by the Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited.

Hulikal

Hulikal is a village located in the Hosanagara taluk of the Shimoga district in the Indian state of Karnataka and is known for its heavy rainfall. The Hulikal village lies in western ghat region of Karnataka state. The range of ghat is known by the name Hulikal ghat or Balebare ghat. The road running between Hosangadi and Mastikatte through Hulikal ghati connects coastal district of Udupi with Shivamogga district. The Mani dam reservoir and Savehoklu reservoir are nearby. KPCL has its colony at Mastikatte near to Hulikal. The nearest airport is at Mangalore, situated 123 km south-west of Hulikal.

The Nrupatunga Award is an award for excellence in Kannada literature in the Indian state of Karnataka. The award was instituted by the Kannada Sahitya Parishat and is sponsored by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). Instituted in honor of the Rashtrakuta King Nrupatunga Amoghavarsha I, the award carries a purse of ₹500,001. King Nrupatunga finds an important place in the history of India in general and Karnataka in particular for his patronage and contribution to the Kannada language in the 9th century.

National Highway 169 is a National Highway in India. The national highway number 169 was previously part of national highway 13 (NH-13) connecting Mangaluru in Karnataka state with Solapur in Maharashtra state. After rationalisation of highway numbers by government of India (Bharat) published on 5 March 2010 A.D. This number has been assigned to national highway starting from Mangalooru to Shivamogga (Shimoga) going via Thodar, Moodabidri, Karkala, Bajagoli (Bajegoli), SK border, Kerekatte, Sringeri, Koppa and Thirthahalli. This road provides connectivity between Karavali (Coastal) region to Malenadu region of Karnataka state in India. This road is narrow at some stretches.The National Highway 169A joins this highway at Thirthahalli.
