Kate Harrisson is a British diplomat. She was the British Ambassador to Peru from 2018 to 2022, when she was replaced by diplomat Gavin Cook. [1]
She graduated from Open University, and SOAS University of London. [2] She gained first degrees in Modern Chinese studies and in psychology and she has a master's degree in social anthropology. She worked in business in China until in 2000 she decided to join the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. [3]
She was Deputy Head of Mission to Vietnam, Political Counselor in China, and Economic Consul in Hong Kong. [3] [4] She was a panelist at 2019 Latin American Cities Conferences: Lima. [5]
She signed a Infrastructure Task Force Memorandum of Understanding in 2021 to continue to support a joint Infrastructure Task Force that had been working since 2018. [6] She promoted infrastructure improvement in Peru. [7] [8] [9] [10]

Former President Alberto Fujimori's tainted re-election to a third term in June 2000 strained Peru's relations with the United States and with many Latin American and European countries, mainly small countries like Yemen but relations improved with the installation of an interim government in November 2000 and the inauguration of Alejandro Toledo in July 2001.
Lima, founded in 1535 as the Ciudad de los Reyes, is the capital and largest city of Peru. It is located in the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac and Lurín Rivers, in the desert zone of the central coastal part of the country, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The city is considered the political, cultural, financial and commercial center of Peru. Due to its geostrategic importance, the Globalization and World Cities Research Network has categorized it as a "beta" tier city. Jurisdictionally, the metropolis extends mainly within the province of Lima and in a smaller portion, to the west, within the Constitutional Province of Callao, where the seaport and the Jorge Chávez Airport are located. Both provinces have regional autonomy since 2002.
José Antonio García Belaunde is a Peruvian career diplomat, who served as Foreign Minister during the Second Presidency of Alan Garcia from 2006 to 2011, making him the only Foreign Affairs Minister to serve a complete term. On August 2, 2011, his successor in office, Rafael Roncagliolo announced his appointment as Peru's co-agent before the Court of The Hague.

Peruvian population decreased from an estimated 5–9 million in the 1520s to around 600,000 in 1620 mainly because of infectious diseases carried by the Spanish. Spaniards and Africans arrived in large numbers in 1532 under colonial rule, mixing widely with each other and with Native Peruvians. During the Republic, there has been a gradual immigration of European people. Chinese and Japanese arrived in large numbers at the end of the 19th century.
Mercedes Rosalba Aráoz Fernández is a Peruvian economist, professor, and politician who served as Second Vice President of Peru from 2016 to 2020. At the beginning of her political career, she served as Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism from 2006 to July 2009, after which she was appointed briefly as Minister of Production, and finally as Minister of Economy and Finance, all portfolios under the second presidency of Alan García.

In 2009 he was appointed Peruvian ambassador to the United Nations, in New York. From 2011 to 2014 he was the ambassador of Peru to the People's Republic of China and non-resident ambassador to Mongolia, Pakistan and North Korea. From 2017 to 2022 he was the appointed ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union. As of May 1st 2023 he was appointed Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Peru. In September 1, 2023 he takes the post of Secretary General of the Andean Community.
