Kathie Stromile Golden is an American political scientist. She is the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Mississippi Valley State University, where she is also a Professor of Rural Public Policy. She specializes in the politics of communist and post-communist societies.

Early work and education

Golden attended Southern University, graduating with a BA in 1974. [1] She continued to study at Southern University, earning an MA in social science in 1975. [1] She then obtained a PhD from the University of Kentucky in 1987. [1]

Upon graduating with her PhD, Golden worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois for 2 years, before joining the faculty at the University of Colorado. [1] In 1996, she became a professor as well as the director of Faculty and Staff Research at Morris Brown College. [1] After several years as an administrator and program director at organizations like UNCF, she joined the faculty at Mississippi Valley State University in 2006. [1] She has also taught at Clark Atlanta University, Texas Tech University, Arkansas State University, and the University of Kentucky. [2]

Career

While at Morris Brown College in the late 1990s, Golden was credited with developing and encouraging participation in faculty development programs. [3]

In August 2019, Golden was named the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Mississippi Valley State University, as the result of a nationwide search. [4] [5] [6] At that time, she already served as both the executive director of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists and director of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists Graduate Assistant Program. [7] [8] She had also previously been the director of international programs at Mississippi Valley State University, [9] and also the associate vice president for academic affairs there. [2]

Golden has also served as the Executive Director of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists. [10] [11] The Lena Harris Stromile Student Leadership Award, named after Golden's mother, is given to a student in recognition of their community involvement and "honors the contributions of the Stromile family to NCOBPS and their life-long involvement in developing student leaders". M. Brian Blake

M. Brian Blake (born 1971) is an American computer scientist/software engineer and the eighth president of Georgia State University. Susan Herbst

Susan Herbst is an American political scientist and academic administrator who served as the 15th president of the University of Connecticut. She was named president on December 20, 2010, and took office on June 1, 2011. She succeeded Michael J. Hogan and was the first woman to be selected as the University of Connecticut's president since the school's founding in 1881. In August of 2019, Herbst was succeeded by Thomas C. Katsouleas.

Terrell Lamont Strayhorn is an American scholar who publishes on college student success, especially sense of belonging, and issues of equity and diversity in higher education. He owns Do Good Work Educational Consulting Group, a private education research consulting firm. He has served on the faculty and/or administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), The Ohio State University, LeMoyne-Owen College, and Virginia Union University. He is a cousin of Billy Strayhorn.

Flossie M. Byrd African American home economist

Flossie M. Byrd was a home economist, family and consumer services scientist, educator, and the first Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the public historically black university (HBCU), Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) in Prairie View, Texas. She taught in Florida public high schools and at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida before moving to PVAMU. She earned a PhD in Home Economics Education with minors in child development and educational psychology and measurement from Cornell University in 1963. Her research interests included concept formation, family membership disability, and family resource management.

Felecia Diane McInnis Nave is an American chemical engineer and academic administrator. She is the 20th President of Alcorn State University and the first female to serve in the position.

Malinda Sharon Smith is a Canadian political scientist. She is the inaugural Vice-Provost of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at The University of Calgary. Previously, she was a professor of political science at the University of Alberta, where she was also a Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Fellow and a Provost Fellow in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. She specialises in diversity and intersectionality studies, particularly as they are practiced in higher education institutions, as well as African security studies and international inequality.

Sally Elaine McRorie is an American psychologist and painter. She is the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Florida State University and president of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

Stacia L. Haynie is an American political scientist. In 2018, Haynie was appointed Louisiana State University's executive vice president and provost.

Lorrie Clemo American political scientist

Lorrie Ann Clemo is an American political scientist who is the 15th president of D'Youville College, serving since January 2017. She also sits on the Board of Directors at Kaleida Health the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities in New York (CICU), and the Western New York Higher Education Consortium. Previously she served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the State University of New York at Oswego since 2012.
