Kathleen G. Evison (born January 16, 1963) is an American former actress. She is best known for playing Lonnie Henderson in season 2-3 of seaQuest DSV .
Evison's father was employed by the National Park Service so she spent most of her young life in national parks all across the United States. To finance her college education (she graduated cum laude from the University of California, Davis with a degree in rhetoric) [1] she worked as a model, including appearances all over the world in television commercials and magazines, including women's health magazines like Self, Shape and the magazine Seventeen. The magazine modeling led to TV commercials, and those led to Kathy's first television acting part, which was in The Heights in 1992 (in the episode "Natalie"), before she won a regular role in the TV series seaQuest DSV in 1994. One of Kathy's guest appearances on Diagnosis: Murder , (the episode "Blood Ties"), was filmed as a pilot episode for a spin off series called Whistlers which would have starred her and Zoe McLellan. [3] Ultimately the show wasn't picked up by the network.
Kathy lives in Los Angeles, California, with her husband Randy Katz and two children.
Jonathan Gregory Brandis was an American actor. Beginning his career as a child model, Brandis moved on to acting in commercials and subsequently won television and film roles. Brandis made his acting debut in 1982 as Kevin Buchanan on the soap opera One Life to Live. In 1990, he portrayed Bill Denbrough in the television miniseries It. Also in 1990, he starred as Bastian Bux in The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter. In 1993, at the age of 17, he was cast in the role of teen prodigy Lucas Wolenczak on the NBC series seaQuest DSV. The character was popular among teenage viewers, and Brandis regularly appeared in teen magazines. Brandis died by suicide in 2003 following a period of heavy drinking and career setbacks.
SeaQuest DSV is an American science fiction television series created by Rockne S. O'Bannon. It originally aired on NBC between 1993 and 1996. In its final season, it was renamed seaQuest 2032. Set in "the near future" - originally the year 2018 in the first season - seaQuest DSV originally mixed high drama with realistic scientific fiction. It originally starred Roy Scheider as Captain Nathan Bridger, designer and commander of the eponymous naval submarine seaQuest DSV 4600, Jonathan Brandis as Lucas Wolenczak, a teenaged computer genius placed aboard seaQuest by his father, and Stephanie Beacham as Kristin Westphalen, the chief medical officer and head of the seaQuest science department. In the opening episode of the third season Scheider departed the show, his character Bridger was replaced by Michael Ironside as Captain Oliver Hudson. Also present was a dolphin character called Darwin who, due to technological advances, was able to communicate with the crew. Steven Spielberg expressed interest in the project and served as one of the show's executive producers during the first two seasons.
