Kaushik Jamnadas Patel is an Indian politician from Gujarat. A former revenue minister, Patel was a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from Dariapur (Ahmedabad) in 1995, 1998 and 2002. [1] He is a trusted associate of party chief Amit Shah, having contested from Naranpur constituency which was vacated by Amit Shah. [2]

The history of Gujarat began with Stone Age settlements followed by Chalcolithic and Bronze Age settlements like Indus Valley Civilisation. Gujarat's coastal cities, chiefly Bharuch, served as ports and trading centers in the Nanda, Maurya, Satavahana and Gupta empires as well as Western Kshatrapas period. After the fall of the Gupta empire in the 6th century, Gujarat flourished as an independent Hindu/Buddhist state. The Maitraka dynasty, descended from a Gupta general, ruled from the 6th to the 8th centuries from their capital at Vallabhi, although they were ruled briefly by Harsha during the 7th century. The Arab rulers of Sindh sacked Vallabhi in 770, bringing the Maitraka dynasty to an end. The Gurjara-Pratihara Empire ruled Gujarat after from the 8th to 10th centuries. As well as, for some periods the region came under the control of Rashtrakuta Empire and Pala Empire. In 775 the first Parsi (Zoroastrian) refugees arrived in Gujarat from Greater Iran.

The stadium holds the honor of hosting the first One Day International match played in India. Once a new stadium of the same name came up in Motera in 1982, the Sardar (Vallabhbhai) Patel stadium hasn't been used for international cricket matches. The stadium is one of the home grounds of the Gujarat cricket team that plays in domestic tournament of Ranji Trophy. It is equipped with floodlights for day-and-night games and is a regular venue during Indian domestic cricket season.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave is a under-construction sports enclave being built in Ahemdabad, Gujarat, India. Once the sports enclave is fully built, it will be one of the largest of its kind in India. The project is being jointly executed with the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority, and the Government of Gujarat. A primary reason for the sports enclave to be built, is so that the Summer Olympic Games, and other major sporting events could be hosted in India in the future.
