Kaycee Records is an independent record label established in the United Kingdom, jointly owned and managed by the founders Kennedy Kesidi Richard from Oguta, Nigeria, and Kingsley Chibuzor Aguoru from Orlu, who are the chief executive officers. [1]

Among the popular artists on the Kaycee Records label is Safin De Coque, the son of the Highlife's Oliver De Coque, who was introduced into the Nigerian music industry during a press conference hosted by Kaycee Records in March 2011.

Objectives

Kaycee Records has been promoting Nigerian acts in the UK since around 1995. [3]

In late 2010 Kaycee Records expanded to Nigeria and the record label was launched at The Coliseum Niteshift, Ikeja, Lagos. During the launch, the company presented Nigerian artistes on the label including Uche Barry Nwobi (Swith Barry), Ikechukwu Iroegbu (Snappy), Meldaline Maureen Uzoigwe (Mel-Dee), Chike Ken Nwoke (Seaflo), and the group Southend.

The President of Kaycee Records Kennedy Richard says their aim is to promote talented young artists who are short of money.

And to remix their music to suit musical tastes in Europe and North America.

Kaycee Records had already signed six Nigerian acts, during the unveiling of the record label in Nigeria.

According to Kennedy Richard, Kaycee Records has the technology to prevent the artists work being pirated. [4]

Musical styles will include Highlife, Bongo, Hip Hop, Fuji and Akpala. [3]

Christogonus Ezebuiro Obinna, alias Dr. Sir Warrior, also known as Ultimate Dr. Sir Warrior was a Nigerian Igbo highlife musician, guitarist and bandleader. A musical prodigy, he was one of the pioneers of highlife music in Nigeria and was the leader of the Oriental Brothers International Band which was famous in the Nigerian Igbo highlife music scene for several decades. He performed primarily in Nigeria, as well as performing internationally in places such as London and the United States of America with his crew.

Safin De Coque is the Son of the Nigerian Highlife Legend Late Chief Oliver De Coque. He was mentored and blessed by his father to be a great singer.

It is compiled weekly by the Official Charts Company (OCC), and is first published on their official website on Friday evenings. The chart was first launched on 29 June 2009, and, according to Martin Talbot, managing director of the OCC, would have benefited acts such as Friendly Fires and Grizzly Bear.

Mavin Records is a Nigerian corporation and record label founded by record producer and recording artist Don Jazzy on 8 May 2012. The label's inception came to fruition following the closure of Mo' Hits Records, a record label Don Jazzy and D'banj. The label is home to recording artists such as Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Johnny Drille, Ladipoe, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Bayanni, and Lifesize Teddy. It also houses producers such as Don Jazzy, Altims, London, Baby Fresh, and Andre Vibez. In 2014, DJ Big N became the label's official disc jockey. Port Harcourt, a city of Rivers State located to the south of Nigeria, has a thriving music scene encompassing both native African and foreign-influenced genres. It plays host to numerous radio stations, prominent recording studios, such as the Street Rhymes Studios and other music institutions. As a state capital, Port Harcourt has one of the liveliest club scenes in the country as well as music venues, bars and restaurants. As of 2015, hip hop, pop, highlife and reggae are most popular music styles among young people in the city.

Igbo highlife is a contemporary musical genre which combines highlife and Igbo traditional music. The genre is primarily guitar-based music, with a rare characteristic blend of horns and vocal rhythms. Igbo highlife lyrics are sung mostly in Igbo with occasional infusion of Pidgin English. One of the most influential composers and performers of the music is Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe whose career spanned over 40 years. Osadebe's discography comprises numerous popular songs including the 1984 hit "Osondi Owendi" which launched him on the world stage as a pioneer of the Igbo highlife genre.
