History

Keen.com was originally a help website that allowed people to get answers to questions by telephone. [3] Launched in 1999, it received early stage funding, including $60 million in 2000 from a team of investors including Benchmark Capital, eBay, and Microsoft. [4] [5] [6] By the end of its first year, it had received a total of $109 million and was the fastest growing company in the e-commerce sector. [7]

The site eventually merged with LiveAdvice and Inforocket and changed its company name to Ingenio. [8] Keen.com became a brand of Ingenio and rebranded to offering psychic advice. [5]

Platform

Keen.com is a marketplace that connects people to psychics through its website and mobile app. [9] The site makes the connection between both parties so the identity of the advice seeker remains anonymous. The site connects people for psychic readings as well as tarot readings, astrological, and love and relationship advice. [9]

Ciao was a European-based online-shopping portal with websites in the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Sweden. In February 2008, the company launched an American version of the site, Ciao.com. The site provided a forum where registered users could write reviews and give their opinions on a wide variety of products to help others make decisions. These reviews were available to the general public to help consumers, but also rated by other Ciao users on their usefulness on a scale ranging from exceptional to off-topic. Up to December 2017, when a review was read by a member, the author had money added to their account. Members could also receive money through online surveys and referring friends. Psychic reading

A psychic reading is a specific attempt to discern information through the use of heightened perceptive abilities; or natural extensions of the basic human senses of sight, sound, touch, taste and instinct. These natural extensions are claimed to be clairvoyance (vision), clairsentience (feeling), claircognisance and clairaudience (hearing) and the resulting statements made during such an attempt. The term is commonly associated with paranormal-based consultation given for a fee in such settings as over the phone, in a home, or at psychic fairs. Though psychic readings are controversial and a focus of skeptical inquiry, a popular interest in them persists. Extensive experimentation to replicate psychic results in laboratory conditions have failed to find any precognitive phenomena in humans. Psychic reading is pseudoscience. A cold reading technique allows psychics to produce seemingly specific information about an individual from social cues and broad statements.
