Keith Leslie Broomhall (born 21 May 1951) is an English former footballer who played at left-back for Port Vale in the Football League.

Career

Broomhall joined Gordon Lee's Fourth Division side Port Vale as an apprentice in October 1967. [1] He made a substitute appearance at Vale Park in a 1–0 win over Grimsby Town on 21 April 1969, before making his full debut a week later as right-back in a 2–0 defeat by Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground. [1] He left on a free transfer in May 1969 and moved on to Eastwood, Burslem based Roebuck and Wolstanton United. [1]

The 1968–69 season was Port Vale's 57th season of football in the English Football League, and their fourth successive season in the Fourth Division. New manager Gordon Lee used the season to consolidate the club after it was readmitted to the Football League immediately after being expelled for illegal payment of players. Managing 46 goals scored and conceded, and 46 points gained in 46 games, he had built a solid base for future progress. However the club's financial problems continued, as another loss was made to increase the club's debt levels.

The 1971–72 season was Port Vale's 60th season of football in the Football League, and their second successive season back in the Third Division. Roy Sproson's 22-year career at the club came to an end, in what was an otherwise unremarkable campaign.

The 1973–74 season was Port Vale's 62nd season of football in the Football League, and their fourth successive season in the Third Division. They finished in twentieth spot, though were seven points clear of relegation. Manager Gordon Lee left the club in January, and was replaced by club legend Roy Sproson.

The 2012–13 season was Port Vale's 101st season of football in the English Football League, and fifth successive season in League Two. The club secured promotion into League One with a third-place finish. Administration scuppered the club's promotion chances in the previous campaign, and high-profile departures in the summer meant that manager Micky Adams had to rebuild his team from the ground up. His rebuilding efforts were severely hampered when Keith Ryder's expected takeover collapsed. The club was instead taken over by Paul Wildes on 20 November.
