Kenneth Hosking (dates of birth and death unknown) was an English cricketer active in the 1930s. Hosking,whose batting and bowling styles are unknown,played in one first-class cricket match.
Hosking made his debut for Cornwall against the Kent Second XI in the 1932 Minor Counties Championship. [1] He continued to play minor counties cricket for Cornwall until 1934,after which he left England for the British Raj. While there he played a single first-class match for Mysore against Madras in the 1935–36 Ranji Trophy at the Gymkhana Ground,Bangalore. [2] He scored 30 runs in Mysore's first-innings,before being dismissed by Ram Singh,while in their second-innings he was dismissed for 2 runs by Morappakam Gopalan,with Madras winning the match by 109 runs. [3] Upon returning to England,Hosking played eight Minor Counties Championship matches for Cornwall in 1938. [1]

The 1934–35 Ranji Trophy was the inaugural edition of India's first-class cricket championship. The tournament was originally titled The Cricket Championship of India,but was renamed as the Ranji Trophy ahead of the 1935–36 edition. The first tournament ran from 4 November 1934 to 12 March 1935 and was contested in a knockout format by 15 teams divided into four zones. In the opening match,Madras defeated Mysore by an innings and 23 runs at the Chepauk Stadium and the match ended five minutes before close of play on the first day. It remains the only Ranji Trophy match to be completed in a single day's play. In the final,Bombay defeated Northern India by 208 runs at the Bombay Gymkhana Ground.
The 1935–36 Ranji Trophy was the second edition of India's first-class cricket championship. Having been called 'The Cricket Championship of India' in 1934–35,the tournament was rebranded in 1935 in honour of the late Kumar Sri Ranjitsinhji,known as Ranji.
The 1936–37 Ranji Trophy was the third edition of India's first-class cricket championship. Matches were played from 3 December 1936 to 10 February 1937 with a total of 17 teams participating. The Travancore-Cochin cricket team represented the Indian state of Travancore-Cochin in the Ranji Trophy from 1951–52 to 1956–57. After the state was reorganised and expanded to form the new state of Kerala in 1956,the Travancore-Cochin team was superseded by the Kerala cricket team,beginning with the 1957–58 Ranji Trophy.
