Ken Lowe was the head medical trainer of the Edmonton Oilers for 21 years until 2010, and had been with the team since 1989 overall. [1] He has also represented Canada in various international tournaments. [2] [3]
From 1982 to 1988, Ken served as the athletic therapist of the Edmonton Eskimos. He joined the Edmonton Oilers in 1989, and was part of their 1990 Stanley Cup championship team. Ken also represented Canada the 2002 [4] and 2006 Winter Olympics, the 1996 and 2004 World Cup of Hockey, and 1994 World Championships. [2]
Ken is the older brother of Kevin Lowe, a retired hockey player and current vice-chairman of Oilers Entertainment Group. [2] Ken and his wife, Marianne have two daughters Amanda and Melissa, who is a Canadian bobsleigh athlete. [5]
Wayne Douglas Gretzky is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and former head coach. He played 20 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for four teams from 1979 to 1999. Nicknamed "The Great One", he has been called the greatest hockey player ever by many sportswriters, players, and the NHL itself. Gretzky is the leading scorer in NHL history, with more goals and assists than any other player. He garnered more assists than any other player scored total points, and is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season – a feat he accomplished four times. In addition, Gretzky tallied over 100 points in 16 professional seasons, 14 of them consecutive. At the time of his retirement in 1999, he held 61 NHL records: 40 regular season records, 15 playoff records, and 6 All-Star records.

Ryan Alexander Borden Smyth is a Canadian former professional ice hockey winger who played most of his career for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was especially known for playing in the style of a power forward. Smyth announced his retirement on April 11, 2014, after 19 seasons in the NHL. He is currently one of the owners of the AJHL Spruce Grove Saints.
The 1990 Stanley Cup Finals was the championship series of the National Hockey League's (NHL) 1989–90 season, and the culmination of the 1990 Stanley Cup playoffs. It was contested by the Edmonton Oilers and the Boston Bruins; the Oilers won, four games to one. The series was a rematch of the 1988 Finals, albeit with the notable absence of Wayne Gretzky who was traded from Edmonton to the Los Angeles Kings during the 1988 off-season. For the Oilers, it was their fifth Cup win in seven years, and the team's only championship after trading Gretzky. This would be the last of eight consecutive Finals contested by a team from Alberta.
