Kenny Lowe (born 6 November 1961) is an English association football manager and former player. He is the current manager of Australian side Perth RedStar.

Kenny played for ten clubs in England, and had a stint in Australia also. He later managed Gateshead and Barrow before returning to Perth to work in football, where he would undertake a five-year tenure as the manager of A-League side Perth Glory.

Playing career

Lowe played for ten clubs during his career, which started on a part-time basis in 1981 with Hartlepool United, while he served an apprenticeship as a pipe-fitter and welder with ICI. [2] He moved to Australia in 1986 to play for Spearwood Dalmatinacs in the Western Australia Premier League before returning to England. [3] He was twice signed by manager Barry Fry, first for £40,000 for Barnet in 1991 and secondly at Birmingham City for £75,000, when at the age of 31 he turned professional. [2] He finally ended his career at the age of 39. He also won two caps with the England semi-professional team. [2]

Managerial career

Lowe started his managerial career with Gateshead as joint manager with Matty Pearson. [4] He returned to Barrow in 1999 when the club had just four players. [2] He stayed at Barrow for four seasons during which time they remained in administration. [5]

He left Barrow to move to Australia where he was appointed assistant manager at Perth Glory. [3] He also coaches at the Football West national training centre, taking charge of the team in inter-state matches.

Following the sacking of Alistair Edwards as Perth Glory's head coach, Lowe was appointed as the caretaker coach. [6]

On 22 April 2014 Lowe was appointed as full-time coach of Perth Glory, after winning just 4 of 17 games as caretaker coach. [7] In his first full season in charge of the Glory he led them to the final of the 2014 FFA Cup. On 20 April 2018 Lowe was sacked as the head coach of Perth and was appointed technical director of the club's academy. [8] Lowe departed as the Glory's longest serving A-League manager. [9] [10]

On 13 November 2018, Lowe was appointed as an assistant coach of the Socceroos for their friendlies in November. [11] He continued in this role for the Socceroos' Asian Cup defence in January. [12]

In July 2023, following the departure of Ruben Zadkovich as head coach, Lowe became interim coach of Perth Glory once again for a post-season game against West Ham United and the Australia Cup play-off against Macarthur. [13]

Personal life

He was born in Sedgefield, County Durham, and now lives in Perth, Western Australia. [4] His sister, Kendra Slawinski, is a former England netball international. [2]

Graham James Arnold is an Australian soccer manager and former player. Arnold was appointed to work as a head coach of the Australian national soccer team in 2000. After head coach Frank Farina was sacked in 2005, Arnold worked with Guus Hiddink for the 2006 FIFA World Cup campaign, in which they made the second round of the finals. After Hiddink left, he became interim coach of the Socceroos. Arnold went on to qualify Australia's U23 men's national soccer team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Arnold then went on to assist Pim Verbeek for qualification of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Arnold went on to take the manager role at A-League club the Central Coast Mariners between 2010 and 2013, where he guided the club to a Premiership and a Championship. Jamie Maclaren is an Australian professional soccer player who Captains & plays as a striker for A-League club Melbourne City. Maclaren initially represented Scotland at youth level, but has since appeared for Australia at both youth and senior international level. The 2020–21 A-League was the 44th season of national level soccer in Australia, and the 16th since the establishment of the A-League in 2004. The season was started on 28 December 2020 and concluded with the Grand Final on 27 June 2021. The start of the season was later than previous seasons as a result of both the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia and New Zealand, and as part of a gradual shift to move the competition from summer to winter. Wellington Phoenix played the majority of their home matches at Wollongong Showground in Wollongong due to international travel restrictions.
