Kendra Slawinski OBE (born 13 December 1962), originally known as Kendra Lowe, is a former England netball international. Between 1983 and 1995 she made 128 senior appearances for England. She represented England at the 1983 and 1987 World Netball Championships and at 1985 and 1989 World Games and captained the team at the 1991 and 1995 World Netball Championships and at the 1993 World Games. In 1996, she was awarded an OBE for her services to netball.
Slawinski is the daughter of Lili and Kenny Lowe Sr. She was raised in Billingham. Her older brother, Kenny Lowe, is a former England men's semi-pro international footballer and Perth Glory manager. [2] [3] Slawinski attended De Montfort University. [4]
Between 1983 and 1995, Slawinski made 128 senior appearances for England. She represented England at the 1983, 1987, 1991 and 1995 World Netball Championships [5] [6] [7] and at the 1985, 1989 and 1993 World Games. [8] [9] [10] [11] She captained England at the 1991 and 1995 World Netball Championships and at the 1993 World Games. [6] [7] [11] [12] In 1993 she received her 100th senior cap. [13] In November 1995, she made her 128th and final appearance for England during a series against the Cook Islands. [14] She was the world's most capped netball international, until 2009 when she overtaken by New Zealand's Irene van Dyk. [15] [16] In 1996, she was awarded an OBE for her services to netball. [17] In 2001 she was an inaugural inductee into England Netball's Hall of Fame. [18] [19]

During the Super Cup era, Slawinski was head coach of Birmingham Blaze. [29] During the 2008–09 Netball Superleague season, Slawinski served as assistant coach when Galleria Mavericks reached the grand final. [30] During the 2008–09 season she was Mavericks head coach, [31] [32] [33] [34] guiding them to another grand final. [35]
Since 1986, Slawinski has worked as a teacher at Cardinal Newman Catholic School. She is currently an Assistant Headteacher. [36]
The England national netball team, also known as the Vitality Roses, represent England Netball in international netball tournaments such as the Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the Netball Quad Series, the Taini Jamison Trophy, the Fast5 Netball World Series and the European Netball Championship. They have also competed at the World Games. England made their Test debut in 1949. Their best result in a major tournament is a gold medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. As of 13 December 2023, England are ranked third in the World Netball Rankings.
The Netball Super League is a top level netball league featuring teams from the United Kingdom. The league is organised by England Netball but features teams based in England, Wales and Scotland. The league was commenced playing at the 2005–06 season, replacing the Super Cup as the elite netball competition in England. Since 2016 the league has been sponsored by VitalityHealth and, as a result, it is also known as the Vitality Netball Superleague.
The Scotland national netball team represents Scotland in international netball tournaments such as the Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the European Netball Championship and the Netball Singapore Nations Cup. Scotland also effectively competes in the Netball Superleague. Between 2008 and 2011 they played as Glasgow Wildcats. Since 2017 they have played as the Sirens. As of 1 March 2022, Scotland was 9th in the INF World Rankings.
Geva Kate Mentor CBE is a former England netball international. She has competed for England in six Commonwealth Games. She was a member of the England team that won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She was also a member of the England teams that won the bronze medal at the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011, 2015 and 2019 Netball World Cups. She captained England at the 2015 Netball World Cup.
Amanda Newton is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 1998 Commonwealth Games and at the 1999 World Netball Championships. She captained England at the 2007 World Netball Championships. Between 2001 and 2010 she played in seven senior finals and won four national titles with three different teams – London Tornadoes, Northern Thunder and Mavericks.
The Australia national netball team, also known as the Australian Diamonds, represent Netball Australia in international netball tournaments such as the Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the Constellation Cup, the Netball Quad Series and the Fast5 Netball World Series. They have also represented Australia at the World Games. Australia made their Test debut in 1938. As of 2023, Australia have been World champions on 12 occasions and Commonwealth champions on 4 occasions. They are regularly ranked number one in the World Netball Rankings.
Joanne Elizabeth Harten is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England team that won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She also sits on the board of the Australian Netball Players’ Association.
Saracens Mavericks is an English netball team based at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06 they were founder members of the league. They were Superleague champions in 2007–08 and 2011. Due to various sponsorship deals and partnership arrangements, the team has played under several different names. Between 2005–06 and 2008–09 they played as Galleria Mavericks. Between 2009–10 and 2017 they played as Hertfordshire Mavericks. During this era they were also referred to as University of Hertfordshire Mavericks. During the 2018 season they played as benecosMavericks. They adopted their current name in 2019 after forming a partnership with the rugby union club, Saracens F.C.
Stacey Francis-Bayman is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011 and 2015 Netball World Cups. At club level she has played for both Team Bath and Yorkshire Jets in the Netball Superleague, for Canterbury Tactix in the ANZ Championship and for West Coast Fever in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2005–06 and 2013 she was a prominent member of the Team Bath squad as they won five Superleague titles. She played in the 2010 and 2013 grand finals and in both 2011 and 2013 she was named the Netball Superleague Player of the Season. In 2017 she was inducted into the University of Bath/Team Bath Hall of Fame for Sport.
Louisa Brownfield, also known as Louisa Watson, is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011 World Netball Championships. Between 2006 and 2015, Brownfield also played for Mavericks in seven Netball Superleague grand finals, helping them win two titles in 2007–08 and 2011.
Beth Cobden is an England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won gold medals at the 2017 Fast5 Netball World Series and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. At club level, she was a member of the Northern Thunder/Manchester Thunder teams that won Netball Superleague titles in 2012 and 2014. She also played in two grand finals for Loughborough Lightning which won their first ever Superleague title in 2021. In 2019 she signed for Adelaide Thunderbirds of Suncorp Super Netball.
Layla Guscoth is an England netball international. She was a member of the England squad that won a bronze medal at the 2019 Netball World Cup. At club level, Guscoth has played for Loughborough Lightning, Hertfordshire Mavericks and Team Bath in the Netball Superleague and for Adelaide Thunderbirds in Suncorp Super Netball. She was a member of the Mavericks team that won the 2011 Netball Superleague. She has captained both Mavericks and Thunderbirds. In 2016 she qualified as a doctor.
Shaunagh Craig is a netball player who has represented both Northern Ireland and England at international level. She played for Northern Ireland at the 2019 Netball World Cup. She also helped Hertfordshire Mavericks and Team Bath win Netball Superleague titles in 2011 and 2013 respectively.
The 2016 Team Bath netball season saw Team Bath finish third overall in the 2016 Netball Superleague. In the third-place play-off they defeated Hertfordshire Mavericks 49–48 to finish the season as bronze medallists. During the regular season they finished fourth, level on points with Surrey Storm and Hertfordshire Mavericks in second and third place respectively. Manchester Thunder topped the table. Team Bath lost 53–46 at Manchester Thunder in the play-off semi-finals.
Lyn Gunson, also known as Lyn Parker, is a former New Zealand netball international and a former head coach of both the New Zealand and England national netball teams. She captained New Zealand when they won the 1985 World Games title and coached them when they retained the same title in 1989. In 1989 she was named New Zealand Coach of the Year. Between 1999 and 2008 Gunson also served as head coach and/or director of netball for Team Bath, guiding them to Netball Superleague titles in 2005–06 and 2006–07.
The Netball tournament at the 1985 World Games was played at London's Crystal Palace National Sports Centre from 2 August to 4 August 1985. It was the first time netball was played at a World Games. It featured England, Australia, Jamaica, New Zealand, Northern Ireland and Scotland. With a team coached by Lois Muir and captained by Lyn Parker, New Zealand won the tournament, winning all five matches they played.
The Netball tournament at the 1989 World Games was played in Karlsruhe, Germany between 24 and 27 July. It featured Australia, the Cook Islands, England, Fiji, New Zealand and Scotland. With a team coached by Lyn Parker and captained by Waimarama Taumaunu, New Zealand won the tournament, winning all five matches they played.
The Netball tournament at the 1993 World Games was played at The Hague's Houtrusthallen in the Netherlands between 28 July and 1 August 1993. It featured Australia, Canada, England, Jamaica, New Zealand and Wales. With a team coached by Joyce Brown and captained by Michelle Fielke, Australia won the tournament, winning all five matches they played.
Margaret Elaine Caldow, also known as Marg Caldow, is a former Australia netball international and a former England head coach. She represented Australia at the 1963, 1975 and the 1979 World Netball Championships, winning three gold medals. She captained Australia at the 1975 and 1979 tournaments. Between 2004 and 2007, Caldow served as head coach of England. She was the England head coach at both the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 World Netball Championships. Between 2013 and 2018, Caldow served as Lisa Alexander's assistant with Australia. In 1978 Caldow was awarded the British Empire Medal and in 2009 she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia.
