Kennebec Valley Community College is a public community college in Fairfield and Hinckley, Maine. It is one of the seven colleges in the Maine Community College System.
The college was organized in 1969 by the 104th Maine Legislature and its first classes began in fall 1970, with 35 full-time and 131 part-time students. Since then, it has undergone many changes and has grown to an enrollment of approximately 2,500 full and part-time students enrolled in credit courses for the fall semester in 2012. In addition, the college offers a comprehensive schedule of continuing education courses as well as business and industry outreach programs. The college is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education and offers more than 30 degree, diploma and certificate programs.
In 2021 the college held a virtual commencement for 482 students due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. [1]
In 2024 the college announced that in 2025 they would begin offering limited student housing at a nearby hotel. [2] [3]
Colby College is a private liberal arts college in Waterville, Maine. Founded in 1813 as the Maine Literary and Theological Institution, it was renamed Waterville College in 1821. The donations of Christian philanthropist Gardner Colby saw the institution renamed again to Colby University before settling on its current title, reflecting its liberal arts college curriculum, in 1899. Approximately 2,000 students from more than 60 countries are enrolled annually. The college offers 54 major fields of study and 30 minors.
John Carroll University (JCU) is a private Jesuit university in University Heights, Ohio, United States. Located in a suburb of Cleveland, it is primarily an undergraduate, liberal arts institution composed of a college of arts and sciences and business school. The university enrolls approximately 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students as of fall 2024. Founded in 1886 as St. Ignatius College, it was renamed in 1923 after John Carroll, the first Catholic bishop in the United States.

Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) is a public community college in Oneida County, New York. It is part of the State University of New York system. MVCC was founded in 1946 as the first community college established in New York State and currently consists of the main campus in Utica and a branch campus in Rome.

Molloy University is a private Roman Catholic university in Rockville Centre, New York. Initially founded as a school for women, it is now co-educational. It provides more than 50 academic undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs for over 4800 students.

Thomas College is a private college in Waterville, Maine, United States. It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education. As of fall 2019 Thomas College enrolled 1,949 students; 1,819 were undergraduate students and 130 were graduate students.

Unity Environmental University is a private university based in New Gloucester, Maine. It offers undergraduate and graduate education based on sustainability science that emphasizes study of the environment and natural resources. Initially founded as a residential school in Unity, Maine, the university expanded into online education in 2016 which grew both its enrollment and number of academic programs. The university moved its online program to the historic Pineland Farms campus in New Gloucester in 2019 and later relocated their administrative headquarters there. Unity Environmental University operates both online and in-person programs. It also operates a farm and indoor growing facility in Thorndike and an outdoor center in Moose River.

Winslow High School is a four-year public high school located in Winslow, Maine, United States. Winslow serves the community of Winslow and is open to high school students from the towns of Vassalboro, Maine, and China, Maine at a tuition cost since there is no public high school in either town. It is a part of Winslow Public Schools.
Gadsden State Community College is a public community college with campuses in Gadsden, Centre and Anniston, Alabama. The college was founded as a merger between Alabama Technical College (1925), Gadsden State Technical Institute (1960) and Gadsden State Junior College (1965). Gadsden State is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. It offers associate degree, certificate and non-credit courses thorough more than 70 programs. The college's campuses serve Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Etowah and St. Clair counties, as well as neighboring counties in Georgia.
Eastern Gateway Community College was a public community college with a main campus in Steubenville, Ohio, and a branch campus in Youngstown, Ohio. Although the college was accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, its accreditor placed the college on probation in 2021 for concerns about "assessment, HR record keeping, and data collection and analysis." The college began experiencing severe financial distress in 2023 and eventually closed on October 31, 2024.
Purdue University Northwest (PNW) is a public university with two campuses in Northwest Indiana; its main campus is in Hammond with a branch campus in Westville. It is part of the Purdue University system and offers more than 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs to approximately 6,200 students with more than 64,000 alumni.
Barbara W. Woodlee is an American college administrator. She was president of Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield, Maine, from 1984 to 2012, and since 2013 has served as chief academic officer of the Maine Community College System. She was the first woman president in both the state technical college and community college systems. She was inducted into the Maine Women's Hall of Fame in 2015.
The COVID-19 pandemic was publicly reported to have reached the U.S. state of Maine on March 12, 2020. As of February 2, 2021, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services reported 131,530 confirmed cases and 46,971 probable cases in the state, with 1,777 deaths attributed to the virus.
