Henrik Frandsen is a Danish politician serving as Member of the Folketing for the Moderates since the 2022 election. He was formerly mayor of Tønder Municipality.
On 16 November 2021,an election were held to decide the 31 candidates who would be members of the Aalborg Municipal council from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2025. Since the 2007 municipal reform,Social Democrats had had an elected mayor of Aalborg Municipality. In the previous election, they won 17 seats, which was an absolute majority. But the Social Democrats lost 11.8% of their vote for this election, and lost 5 seats, while 3 other parties from the traditional Red Bloc saw an increase in their vote share. This was a trend, that was seen in the 4 largest municipalities of Denmark. It was later announced that Thomas Kastrup-Larsen would continue as mayor for a third term.
Following the 2017 election, none of the two traditional blocs had a majority of seats. Local party Fælleslisten and regional Schleswig Party held 6 of the 31 seats, and both opted for supporting Erik Lauritsen from the Social Democrats to continue as mayor for his second term.
In the 2017 Fredericia municipal election, the Social Democrats won comfortably with 54.3% of the vote, and 13 of the 21 seats (61.9%). However,Jacob Bjerregaard, who became mayor following the result in 2017,stepped down as mayor in December 2020. Tabloid newspaper Ekstra Bladet, speculated that some of the scandals that had occurred throughout his mayor period, may have been a factor in this decision. Due to the dramatic period,it was speculated that the Social Democrats might lose the mayor position following this election.
Since the 2007 municipal reform,Venstre had won the mayor position following all three elections in Kolding Municipality. In the 2017 Kolding municipal election, they would win 13 of the 25 seats, which equalled an absolute majority. Jørn Pedersen, who was mayor from 2010 to 2021,would announce his intention not to stand for a fourth term prior to the election. Instead,in October 2020,it would be confirmed that Eva Kjer Hansen would be the mayor candidate,Venstre would put forward for this election.
In 2013,after the parties of the traditional red bloc had won a majority,it was expected that the Social Democrats would win the mayor's position for a second term. However Jan Reimer Christiansen from the party, suddenly switched his party affiliation to Venstre. This resulted in chain reactions that eventually led to Kenneth Muhs from Venstre becoming mayor of Nyborg Municipality.
The 2017 election, resulted in Kasper Olesen from the Social Democrats becoming mayor, but not without drama. The election resulted in both the Social Democrats and the Conservatives winning 7 seats. This was while Venstre who had held the mayor's position in the period up to the election, only won 3 seats. They tried to have a majority behind them holding the mayor's position once again, however without luck. After many days of negotiations, they eventually opted for supporting Kasper Olesen for mayor. This was untraditional, since Conservatives and Venstre are in the same political bloc.
Since the 2007 municipal reform and prior to this election, the Social Democrats had held the mayor's position twice, from 2010 to 2013,and again from 2017 to 2021,while Venstre had held it from 2014 to 2017. Hans Stavnsager would therefore become the first to be re-elected if his bid were successful.
Following the 2017 election,Venstre won the mayor's position from the Conservatives who had held it since 1994. From 1970 to 1993,Venstre had also held the position, and they remain the only parties to have held it in the municipality.
Since 1909,the Conservatives had held the mayor's position in Frederiksberg Municipality.. This was despite the red bloc often having success in the municipality for Danish general elections. In example,it was the municipality where the bloc received their 8th highest percentage of votes in 2019.
Following the 2017 election,Eik Dahl Bidstrup from Venstre won his 2nd consecutive term as mayor of Dragør Municipality.
Ever since 2003,the Social Democrats had held the mayor's position in Bornholm Regional Municipality.
