The Patriots are the mascot and logo of George Mason University. The Patriots home court for both the men and women is at the EagleBank Arena, which is in Fairfax Virginia. Ryan Perryman is a retired American expatriate basketball player who spent time playing professionally in Hungary, South Korea, Chile, the Dominican Republic and Argentina. He is best remembered, however, for his collegiate career at the University of Dayton between 1994–95 and 1997–98. Perryman played for the Flyers after attending Oak Park High School in Oak Park, Michigan. During his four-year career, the 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m), 228-pound power forward compiled 1,524 points and 1,156 rebounds. As a senior in 1997–98, Perryman led NCAA Division I in rebounding with a 12.5 per game average. He holds the school records for rebounds in a game (23) and offensive rebounds in a season (166).

Bernard Anthony Hopkins White is an American-Spanish retired professional basketball player. Hopkins is a 6'6", 235-pound power forward. He played college ball at Hagerstown Community College for two seasons before transferring to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) for his final two. As a senior in 1995–96, Hopkins was named the 1996 CAA men's basketball tournament MVP as well as the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Year.

The 2014–15 William & Mary Tribe men's basketball team represented the College of William & Mary during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Tribe were led by twelfth year head coach Tony Shaver. The team played its home games at Kaplan Arena and were members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). This was the 110th season of the collegiate basketball program at William & Mary. They finished the season 20–13, 12–6 in CAA play to finish in a four way tie for the CAA regular season championship. They advanced to the championship game of the CAA tournament where they lost to Northeastern. As a regular season champion, and #1 seed in their conference tournament, they received an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to Tulsa.
Justin Jamel Wright-Foreman is an American professional basketball player for the Westchester Knicks of the NBA G League. He previously played for the Shenzhen Leopards of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He played college basketball for the Hofstra Pride. He was drafted by the Utah Jazz with the 53rd overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft.
Curtis Reynard McCants is an American former professional basketball player. A 6-foot point guard, he played college basketball at George Mason for 3 years, being named CAA Rookie of the Year in 1994 and first team All-Conference in 1996 before leaving the program after a fight with a teammate. He finished his college career at Cal State Bakersfield in the NCAA Division II and started his professional career in 1997 playing in Israel. In 2001 he was the top scorer of the LNB Pro A in France. In 10 years of pro career he played in several countries in Europe and South America. McCants has a daughter, Asia McCants, who played Division 1 basketball at Howard University.
