Kenya republic in East Africa

Kenya, officially the Republic of Kenya, is a country in Africa with 47 semiautonomous counties governed by elected governors. At 580,367 square kilometres (224,081 sq mi), Kenya is the world's 48th largest country by total area. With a population of more than 52.2 million people, Kenya is the 27th most populous country. Kenya's capital and largest city is Nairobi while its oldest city and first capital is the coastal city of Mombasa. Kisumu City is the third largest city and also an inland port on Lake Victoria. Other important urban centres include Nakuru and Eldoret.

Brazzaville Capital and largest city of the Republic of the Congo

Brazzaville is the capital and largest city of the Republic of the Congo. Constituting the financial and administrative centre of the country, it is located on the north side of the Congo River, opposite Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The population of the capital is estimated to exceed 1.8 million residents, comprising more than a third of the national populace, 40% of whom are employed in non-agricultural professions. During World War II, Brazzaville was also the capital of Free France between 1940 and 1942.

Republic of the Congo republic in Central Africa

The Republic of the Congo, also known as Congo-Brazzaville, the Congo Republic, West Congo, ROC or simply the Congo, is a country located in the western coast of Central Africa. It is bordered by five countries: Gabon to its west; Cameroon to its northwest and the Central African Republic to its northeast; the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the southeast and the Angolan exclave of Cabinda to its south; and the Atlantic Ocean to its southwest.

Jason Dunford Kenyan swimmer

Jason Edward Dunford, OGW, also known as Samaki Mkuu is a Kenyan Olympic swimmer, media personality, rapper and entrepreneur. During his swimming career he was predominantly a butterfly and freestyle sprinter and won gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, Universiade, All-Africa Games and African Championships, and reached finals at Olympics, World Championships and Short Course World Championships. He also held African, Universiade and Olympic records. He is a broadcast journalist with the BBC, raps under the stage name Samaki Mkuu, was the founder/host of J-Talk Live and is a co-founder and adviser to software company, Safi Analytics.

Asbel Kiprop Kenyan middle-distance runner

Asbel Kiprop is a Kenyan middle-distance runner, who specialises in the 1500 metres. He was awarded the 1500 m gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics after the original winner, Rashid Ramzi, tested positive for doping. Kiprop has won three World Championship titles in the event, in 2011, 2013 and 2015. Kiprop failed his own doping test in November 2017 and received a four-year doping ban.

The Women's U-20 African Volleyball Championship, formerly known as the Women's Junior African Volleyball Championship, is a sport competition for national teams with women players under 20 years, currently held biannually and organized by the African Volleyball Confederation, the Africa volleyball federation.

Sport in Kenya

Sport in Kenya is an important element of Kenyan culture. Various indigenous traditional sports have prevailed in Kenyan culture from its earliest history. Some of the traditional games and sports prevalent in Kenya since antiquity have included wrestling, racing exercises, stick fights, hunting, board games, bull fights and dances.

Association football is the most popular sport in almost all African countries, and in 2010 South Africa became the first African nation to host the FIFA World Cup.

2015 African Games 11th edition of the All-Africa Games

The 11th African Games took place from September 4–19, 2015 in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. This edition marked the 50th anniversary of the Games, as well as their return to Brazzaville, which hosted the first edition in 1965.

The Kenya women's national football team represents Kenya in women's football and is controlled by the Football Kenya Federation.

Julius Yego Kenyan javelin thrower

Julius Yego is a Kenyan track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. Nicknamed "Mr. YouTube" because he learned how to throw by watching YouTube videos of javelin athletes, Yego is the African record and Commonwealth record holder for the event with a personal best of 92.72 m.

Kenya women's national rugby sevens team plays in several tournaments including the African Women's Sevens Championship, Dubai Invitational Sevens and the Hong Kong Women's Sevens.

2012 CECAFA Cup

The 2012 CECAFA Cup was the 36th edition of the annual CECAFA Cup, an international football competition consisting of national teams of member nations of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA). The tournament, which was held in Uganda from 24 November to 8 December, saw South Sudan participate in their first international football tournament. Hosts Uganda beat Kenya in the final to extend their record to 13 titles.

2013 CECAFA Cup

The 2013 CECAFA Cup was the 37th edition of the annual CECAFA Cup, an international football competition consisting of the national teams of member nations of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA). The tournament was held in Kenya from 27 November to 12 December.

The athletics competition at the 2015 African Games was held from 13–17 September 2015 at the New Kintele Stadium in Brazzaville, in the Republic of Congo.

Mary Ayuma-Kochwa is a former Kenyan female volleyball player. She was part of the Kenya women's national volleyball team.

Kenya competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 September to 18 September 2016.

Alice Aprot Nawowuna is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes mainly in track running and cross country running competitions. She is the sister of former world champion Joseph Ebuya. She was the gold medallist in the 10,000 metres at the 2015 African Games, where she also won 5000 metres bronze. She was a bronze medallist at the 2014 African Cross Country Championships.

The Refugee Team will participate in the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games which take place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan from 17-27 September 2017.
