Nigeria participated at the 2015 All-Africa Games held in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. It participated with 573 athletes in 21 sports. [1] Nigeria finished 2nd in the 2015 All-Africa Games medal table. [2]
Nigeria, officially the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is a country in West Africa, bordering Niger in the north, Chad in the northeast, Cameroon in the east, and Benin in the west. Its coast in the south is located on the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean. The federation comprises 36 states and 1 Federal Capital Territory, where the capital, Abuja, is located. The constitution defines Nigeria as a democratic secular state.
Brazzaville is the capital and largest city of the Republic of the Congo. Constituting the financial and administrative centre of the country, it is located on the north side of the Congo River, opposite Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The population of the capital is estimated to exceed 1.8 million residents, comprising more than a third of the national populace, 40% of whom are employed in non-agricultural professions. During World War II, Brazzaville was also the capital of Free France between 1940 and 1942.
The Republic of the Congo, also known as Congo-Brazzaville, the Congo Republic, RotC, or simply the Congo, is a country located in the western coast of Central Africa. It is bordered by five countries: Gabon to its west; Cameroon to its northwest and the Central African Republic to its northeast; the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the southeast and the Angolan exclave of Cabinda to its south; and the Atlantic Ocean to its southwest.

The Men's team placed third after losing 60-61 to Egypt, and then beating Mali 57-55 in the third place match. [6] The Women's team placed second after losing 57-73 to Mali in the final. [7]
The Nigeria national basketball team is overseen by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF). It is generally considered to be one of the best national basketball teams in the FIBA Africa zone, along with Angola and Senegal. Nigeria has been ranked 16th in the FIBA World Rankings since the 2016 Olympic Men's Basketball Tournament in Rio, making them the top climber in FIBA rankings from 2015.
The Egyptian national basketball team is organized and run by the Egyptian Basketball Federation.
Mali national basketball team has yet to appear in the FIBA World Championship. Their best finish at the FIBA Africa Championship was in 1972 where they ended with a bronze medal.

The men's team placed third after beating Congo in the 3rd place match. The game tied 0-0, and Nigeria won 5-3 in the penalty kick shootout. [13] The woman's team placed 4th, losing the 3rd place match to Ivory Coast 1-2. [13]

It serves as the successor to Standing Committee of African Sports or Comité permanent du sport africain founded in 1965 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.
