Councils of Tasmania are the 29 administrative districts of the Australian state of Tasmania. Local government areas (LGAs),more generally known as councils,are the tier of government responsible for the management of local duties such as road maintenance,town planning and waste management.
Launceston or is a city in the north of Tasmania,Australia,at the confluence of the North Esk and South Esk rivers where they become the Tamar River (kanamaluka). As of 2021,Launceston has a population of 87,645. Launceston is the second most populous city in Tasmania after the state capital,Hobart. As of 2020,Launceston is the 18th largest city in Australia. Launceston was named Australian Town of the Year in 2022.
The history of Tasmania begins at the end of the most recent ice age when it is believed that the island was joined to the Australian mainland. Little is known of the human history of the island until the British colonisation in the 19th century.

The electoral division of Rosevears is one of the 15 electorates or 'seats' in the Tasmanian upper house. The division is located on the west side of the Tamar River. It is named after the town of Rosevears which is located on the river banks near Exeter.
Gregory Raymond Hall is a former independent member of the Tasmanian Legislative Council in the McIntyre. He was also Mayor of the Meander Valley Council from 1997 to 2002. Hall was born in Launceston. He became a member of the Legislative Council at the 2001 Rowallan elections,defeating Russel Anderson.
The 30-ton sloop Rebecca was launched in 1834,built by Captain George Plummer at his boatyard on the banks of the Tamar River at Rosevears,Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania).

He succeeded Will Hodgman as leader of the Liberal Party and Tasmanian Premier on 20 January 2020.

Rosevears is a locality and small rural community in the local government area of West Tamar,in the Western Tamar Valley region of Tasmania. It is located about 22 kilometres (14 mi) north-west of the town of Launceston. The Tamar River forms the eastern and north-eastern boundaries. The 2016 census determined a population of 352 for the state suburb of Rosevears.

They were initially planned for 30 May;however,due to the COVID-19 pandemic,the electoral commission delayed the date of the election until August,in anticipation for the next Legislative Council sitting date on 25 August.
