Keshav Sthapit is a former mayor of Kathmandu metropolitan city. [3] He also held the position of minister in Bagmati Pradesh [4] [5] and is a former member of the province's Assembly. [1] Keshav Sthapit was elected as the mayor of Kathmandu in 1997. [6] After the royal takeover in 2005,he was appointed the Mayor of Kathmandu by the Monarch. In year 2005 he was top finalist for world best mayor. After the return of democracy,he was appointed as a Commissioner of Kathmandu Valley Development Authority after joining Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) but was removed from the post after only nine months. [7] He was a candidate for Member of Parliament from Kathmandu 6 in 2017,but came in fifth place under the ticket of Federal Socialist Party. [1] He returned to CPN-UML and became a Provincial Minister but was sacked by Chief Minister Dormani Poudel after misbehaving during cabinet meetings. [8] There have been multiple allegations of sexual assault against Sthapit. [9] [10]

The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) (Nepali:नेपालकम्युनिष्टपार्टी(एकीकृतमार्क्सवादी-लेनिनवादी),romanized: nēpāl kamyuniṣṭpārṭī(ēkīkṛt mārksavādī-lēninavādī);abbr. CPN (UML)) is a communist political party in Nepal. The party emerged as one of the major parties in Nepal after the end of the Panchayat era.

Dormani Poudel is a Nepali politician and former chief minister of Bagmati Province. He was in office from 12 February 2018 to 18 August 2021. Poudel was elected parliamentary party leader of the CPN (UML),the largest party in the provincial assembly,on 9 February 2018,receiving 34 votes among 58 provincial assembly members. He was subsequently appointed the first chief minister of Bagmati Province on 12 February 2018,after taking the oath of office from province governor Anuradha Koirala. The Provincial Assembly of Bagmati Province also known as the Bagmati Pradesh Sabha,is a unicameral governing and law making body of Bagmati Province,one of the seven provinces in Nepal. The assembly is seated in the provincial capital at Hetauda in Makwanpur District at the Regional Educational Directorate Office. The assembly has 110 members of whom 66 are elected through first-past-the-post voting and 44 of whom are elected through proportional representation. The term of the assembly is five years unless dissolved earlier.
